Active Adult Centers sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties offer hot noon meals Monday through Friday to people 50 years of age or older. For participants age 50-59, the price of the meal is $3.06. For participants age 60+, a $2 meal donation is gratefully accepted. The monies are needed in order to expand this program.


The following is the menu for the week of Aug. 18:


MONDAY: Chicken Philly sandwich, mixed greens salad with raspberry vinaigrette, tomato basil soup, crackers, wheat hot dog roll, fruit cocktail, margarine, milk and coffee.


TUESDAY: Herb and lemon fish, stewed tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, whole wheat bread, mandarin oranges, margarine, milk and coffee.


WEDNESDAY: Chicken breast florentine, peas and cauliflower, parsley boiled potatoes, whole wheat dinner roll, s’more pudding parfait, margarine, milk and coffee.


THURSDAY: Swedish meatballs, gravy, mixed vegetables, buttered noodles, whole wheat bread, banana, margarine, milk and coffee.


FRIDAY: BBQ pork and sauce, relish, summer succotash, baked potato wedges, whole wheat sandwich roll, fruit sorbet, margarine, milk and coffee.
