Meyers students excel at speech and debate tournament

E.L. Meyers Speech and Debate Team recently competed with 62 private and public schools from nine states at the 11th annual Pennsbury Falcon Invitational hosted by Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills. Meyers students earned two event championships, placed eight competitors in final rounds and 10 in elimination rounds. Meyers placed fifth overall in the speech division. Emmalie Langan was the extemporaneous speaking champion and Joseph Franckiewicz and James Langan paired to win the supplemental improvisational duo event. Jillian Kopec placed second in declamation and Julia Kerr placed fourth in the congress event. Emily Welles also made the final super-session in congress event. Olivia Richards finished fifth in impromptu and Aria Mason placed fifth in the supplemental event of radio announcing. Emily Cook and Bailey McDaniel each made the semi-final round of dramatic performance. Team members, from left, first row, are Michelle Chavez, Morgan Prince, Betsy Macko and Aria Mason.
