WILKES-BARRE: The Kiwanis Club of Wilkes-Barre will present the 11th annual Rev. Dr. Jule Ayers Outstanding Spiritual Welfare Award to the Rev. Ann Marie Acacio at a prayer luncheon buffet at noon on Thursday, May 21, in the Oyster Restaurant at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, 77 E. Market St., Wilkes-Barre. Acacio has been ministering in the community since establishing the first Unity ministry in Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1979. She has been active on the Wyoming Valley Interfaith Council since 2001, serving six years as president. While in active ministry, she served on the board of Unity Worldwide Ministries, Eastern Region, for 10 years, serving four years as president, and with the Wilkes-Barre Ministerium. She has also served on the Steering Committee of The Peace and Justice Center and continues to be an active supporter.

Acacio has been an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Wilkes-Barre since 2001, serving in various capacities in the club, including chaplain at the weekly meetings.

Since her retirement in 2006, Acacio continues to serve in prison ministry, conducts chapel services at area nursing homes, facilitates coaching groups at Domestic Violence Service Center and has presented programs for non-violent juvenile offenders. She enjoys reading to Head Start classes. She also enjoys guest speaking at several ministries and community groups.

Acacio is a graduate of the Academy for Coaching Excellence in Sacramento, California, and is certified as a personal and group coach. She works with clients through her business S.M.A.R.T. Steps Coaching. She also officiates at wedding ceremonies through her business Life Celebrations Today and is blessed to serve couples of various faiths and sexual orientation.

Acacio and her husband Bob have been married for 51 years. They have three children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
