ECKLEY: Eckley Miners’ Village, Highland Road, off Route 940, is looking for volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering can attend a meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday.


Patchtown Days will be held June 15-16. This is the annual celebration of the customs and traditions of the anthracite coal region.


The village is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 adults 13-64; $7 seniors 65 +; and $6 for children 6-12. Walking tours are available from Memorial Day to Labor Day, weekends in September and the first weekend in October. Tours are dependent upon staffing and weather conditions. There is an additional charge of $2 per person for walking tours.

LEHMAN: Penn State Wilkes-Barre is holding a surveying open house at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The event is an opportunity to learn about the different types of surveying and the dual degree option with civil engineering. There will be surveying technology demonstrations and tours of the campus. Surveying students, alumni and faculty will also be available for consultation.

WILKES-BARRE: The regular monthly meeting of the St. David’s Society of Wyoming Valley Inc. will be held at noon today at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, East Market and South Washington streets. President Joseph Williams will preside and final reports will be given on the annual banquet held in February. Dues for 2013 will be collected. All members are invited.


WYOMING VALLEY: The nomination deadline for the United Way’s Rose Brader Community Service Award is April 26. The award recognizes an adult volunteer, 18 years of age or older, for special volunteer efforts in the Wyoming Valley area.


The award recipient will be honored at United Way’s Operation Dream: A Day of Caring and Awards event on May 29 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort.
