BREAKFAST BUFFET


The Noxen Volunteer Fire Company will hold a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, April 21 at the fire hall on Stull Road, Noxen.


Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age.


BINGO SLATED


Bingo will be held on Monday, April 22 at Northmoreland Fire Hall in Centermoreland. Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds start at 6:30 p.m.

AUDITIONS SLATED


Auditions for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 25 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville.


Five men’s roles and four women’s roles are open to those ages 16 and older. Participants must bring sheet music of a song of their choice and an accompanist will be provided. All will be asked to read from the script. Performances are June 13 to 16 and June 20 to 23.

LIBRARY FUNDRAISER


Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library and Leggio’s Italian Restaurant, 64 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas will join together to host a fundraising event at the restaurant from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 to support activities of the Children’s Summer Reading Program.


A percentage of the total sales (bar not included) taken in during that time, including eat-in, take out and gift certificates, will be donated to the library.


ROAST BEEF DINNER


A roast beef dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at the Northmoreland Fire


Hall in Centermoreland.


Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age. Tickets will be available at the door. Takeouts available.


MEET & GREET EVENT


The Committee to Elect Craig A. Tupper will present a Meet & Greet fundraising event from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at Leggio’s Dallas location (across from the Dallas American Legion), Route 415. Light dinner and soda will be served.


DALLAS AUTHOR FEATURED


Karen Morgan, of Dallas, will participate in a Local Author Weekend from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 27 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at the Arena Hub Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township.


Each of the booksigning sessions will feature a panel of 4-7 different authors. Subjects include memoirs, local history, children’s picture books, fiction and self-improvement.


Morgan’s book, entitled “Morgan Update: Please Forward” encourages anyone who has endured crisis to choose hope, joy and vulnerability.

DINNER PLANNED


The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Com. will hold a family-style beef dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 with takeouts beginning at 4 p.m.


Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children and free for children under 6 years of age.


CHORAL ARTS


Choral Arts of Luzerne County and guest director John Fitzgerald a “Little Night Music” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 at First Presbyterian Church, 97 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre.


The concert will present music that will guide the audience from evening, through night, through prayer and finally dreams.


Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door, may be purchased in advance from chorus members or by sending a check payable to Choral Arts of Luzerne County, 190 S. Sprague Ave., Kingston, PA 18704. Reserved seating is provided to those purchasing tickets in advance.


MEDITATION PROGRAM


An introduction to Zen Meditation will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at Mercy Center on the campus of Misericordia University.


The program includes a description of the method of zen meditation, a brief practice period and time for comments and questions. A free will offering will taken.

AARP DRIVER COURSE OFFERED


An AARP Driver Safety (Refresher) course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.


To qualify for the refresher course, participants must have completed the regular course within the last 42 months. Course fee for class is $14 or $12 for AARP members.

FOOD DISCUSSION


Dr. Virginia Corcoran will present “Better Foods … Better Health” from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 in the Irem Clubhouse, 64 Ridgway Drive, Dallas.


Join Dr. Corcoran as she discusses the various food selections to enhance your activity and improve your health. She will provide handouts, including recipes that are both easy and healthy.

CONTRA DANCE SET


A New England Contra dance featuring music by the “Contra Rebels” with fiddlers Todd Clewell and Barb Shmidtt, accompanied by Henry Koretzky on guitar, along with calling by Dave Colestock will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 Market St., Kingston.


No partner or previous experience is necessary. Admission to the dance is $9 for adults with reduced admission for families.

HAIR/FASHION SHOW


A hair and fashion show sponsored by the Irem Divan Ladies will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 at the Irem Country Club Pavilion, Dallas with hair and make-uop by Star Tresses


Admission is $10. Tickets are available at the Irem Shrine Center office, Country Club Road, Dallas, from any Irem Divan Lady or at the door.


Proceeds benefit Irem Divan Lady projects.


MOTORCYCLE RUN BENEFITS BLUE CHIP


A motorcycle run called “Hogs for Dogs” to benefit Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge will be held on May 12. The ride, which begins and ends at Gateway Lounge in Plymouth Twp. starts at 12:15 p.m., rain or shine.


Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Upon return, there will be live bands, food, prizes, surprises and a commemorative t-shirt sale.

EVENT RAISES MONEY FOR BLUE CHIP FARMS


Get a haircut and help raise money for Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19 at the Sports Page at Twin Stacks Center, 1100 Memorial Highway, Dallas. There will be refreshments and a raffle.

WINE FESTIVAL

Tickets are $15 if purchased prior to the event and $25 at the game. Designated drivers pay $5.


The event features Pennsylvania wines, craft vendors, local food vendors and live music.
