HAZLETON: State Rep. Tarah Toohil, 116th District of Pennsylvania, will be the featured speaker at a breakfast PPL is holding to honor its employee volunteers on Friday at Capriotti’s Palazzo.


“A Celebration of Volunteering” will pay tribute to the volunteers and the agencies supported by PPL.


Toohil, a local attorney, raised in Drums, is a graduate of Hazleton Area High School. She dual majored in political science and sociology with a concentration in law and legal services at Northeastern University in Boston and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle in 2008.


Toohil was elected to the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in 2010. She is a member of the Lower Luzerne Bar Association, Hazleton Area Lady Lawyers and the Wilkes-Barre Law Library Association. She is also a member of the Elks Lodge, Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Circle 200 Women of Northeastern PA.


She is the recipient of the Young Republican of the Year Award, Elks Citizen of the Year Award, the Margery Scranton Council of Republican Women’s History Month Award and the Hazleton YWCA’s PEARL Award.
