COURTDALE: The Courtdale United Methodist Church Sunday School, 225 Courtdale Ave., is sponsoring its annual community family fun day from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, on the church grounds.
The theme for this year is “A Happy New Year Celebration.” All food and planned activities are free. There will be games for all ages, a dunk tank, a duck pond, crafts, face painting, a professional artist and more. Music will be provided by DJ Bounce.
DUPONT: Dupont Borough is hosting the annual Party in the Park from 1-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. T-shirts are on sale for $10 and can be purchased at the municipal office or at the Hub One. Proceeds will help to defray the cost of the event.
Events planned for the day include local music, food, raffle baskets, crime watch display, Greater Pittston AmVets, book reading, art for sale and town clock applications for the upcoming centennial. All are welcome.
DUPONT: Dupont Process meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Dupont Municipal Building. Any interested residents can join the newly formed committee of Patty McDonald, Maria Mazur, Martha Doran, Sylvia Magda, Bob and Ellen Price and Pina and John Hansen. The committee’s focus will be on the upcoming borough centennial. Plans are being made for the clock fundraiser, history book and revitalizing the downtown. All residents are asked to help.
LUZERNE COUNTY: Dairy Queen is participating in its annual Miracle Treat Day on Thursday, Aug. 14, to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
One dollar or more from every Blizzard purchased at participating Dairy Queen stores on Miracle Treat Day will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger. The funds will help to provide pediatric equipment, programs and services at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital and throughout Geisinger Health System.
