FALLS: The Falls Active Adult Center, State Route 92, Exeter Township, continues to make crazy afghans for dialysis patients in a local hospital. Yarn donations are greatly appreciated.

On Thursdays during March there will be nutrition talks at lunch, followed by bingo, usually between 12:45-1:30 p.m.

HANOVER TWP.: The Lee Park Active Adult Center, 140 Lee Park Ave., is hosting an exercise class by the Golden Living Center at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Nutrition Day will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, with a special lunch and Guardian Center nutrition presentation.

The nutrition celebration continues at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, with D.J. Tom and fun nutritious snacks.

KINGSTON: The Kingston Active Adult Center, 335 Third Ave., will be celebrating National Nutrition Month. There will be various nutrition presentations and events all month.

Beginning Tuesday, March 3, the center will be having a book and puzzle sale.

A bag lunch will be offered on Tuesday, March 10.

The center will be hosting occupational therapy students from Misericordia University on Tuesday, March 10, and Thursday, March 12.

At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, the third segment of the Mind Matters program will be shown. It is entitled “Exercise is Medicine.” The hour presentation is open to regular visitors and guests and will be streamed over high-speed internet by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and feature Daniel G. Drury, an exercise physiologist and associate professor of health sciences at Gettysburg College.

Medical personnel will be at the center at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, to administer shingles and pneumococcal vaccines for those individuals whose insurance does not cover the cost. Call the center at 570-287-1102 to register.

The “Belly Dancers” will perform at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 12.

LUZERNE COUNTY: State Senator John Yudichak and members of his staff will be visiting housing facilities and senior centers throughout the area in March to assist with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Eligible residents can file for rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2014. The deadline to apply to the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program is June 30. It is free to apply.

NANTICOKE: Rose Tucker Active Adult Center, 128 W. Washington St., is hosting blood pressure screenings by Erwin’s at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

A representative from Erwin’s will give a nutrition presentation at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10.

A speaker from Guardian Elder Care will discuss healthy snacks at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 12.

Misericordia University physical therapy students will be at the center on Friday, March 13.

Rheumatoid arthritis will be discussed by Dr. Dominick Delvecchio at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. For more information contact Gail or Carolyn at 570-735-1670. Special bingo, hosted by Timber Ridge, will be played at 12:45 p.m.

PLAINS TWP.: Plains Senior Citizens Project Head will hold a meeting at noon on Wednesday, March 4, at SS. Peter and Paul school cafeteria. No meetings were held in January or February due to weather conditions. Hostesses and hosts for the meeting are Alice Krommes, Mary Ann Lepa, Maureen Magda, John Magda and Anna Mae Lavan. They are asked to be at the cafeteria by 11:30 a.m. to set up.

A report will be given on the March 25 trip to Mount Airy Casino and future trips. Members are reminded to bring a food item for the food pantry. New members are welcome.

PLYMOUTH: The Senior Citizens’ Friendship Club of St. Mary’s will meet at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 9, at the Holy Child School Building, Willow Street. Servers are Pat Cole, Otto Eime, Barbara Elgonitis and Frank and Mary Jane Forlin.

At the previous meeting Otto Eime and Lorraine Loftus were crowned as the king and queen of hearts and presented with gifts as members sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” Bill and Chris Hurst were honored on the celebration of their 47th wedding anniversary.

Numerous prizes were won by club members, including many home-baked goodies by Helen Skovira. Joe Kelly was the only winner of the special project.

The next scheduled trip will be on May 14 to Rainbow Comedy Playhouse in Lancaster to see “Hallelujah Girls.” The trip includes the show, dinner, a short stop at Rockvale, transportation and all gratuities. Call Ann at 570-779-3203 for reservations.

WYOMING: The Wyoming, West Wyoming Seniors will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, at St. Monica’s meeting rooms. The bakers are Helen Markert and Frank Perfinski. Plans will be made for the St. Patrick’s Day party.

The birthday honorees for January are Theresa Alexander, Ann Kosloski and Marion Pocceschi. The February honorees are Armond Casagrande, Vickie Necklavage and Joan Puma.
