LAFLIN: The Oblates of St. Joseph Congregation is planning its annual triduum and special Labor Day Mass honoring St. Joseph the Worker over the Labor Day weekend at the seminary chapel, Route 315, Laflin. Masses will be held at 7 p.m. each evening from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. Devotions to the patron saint of laborers will take place after the Masses. Confessions and praying of the rosary will precede each Mass. Guest celebrant and preacher for this year’s triduum will be the Rev. Matthew Spencer, rector of Mount Saint Joseph Seminary, Loomis, Calif.
A special Mass celebrated by the Oblate Fathers will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Labor Day at the chapel. Principal celebrant and homilist will be the Very Rev. Paul A. McDonnell, provincial superior of the Oblate USA province. Liturgical music will be provided by the St. Joseph Marello parish choir of Pittston. Bread will be blessed and distributed to all the faithful as the symbol of the fruit of their labor after the Mass.

• Choir practice will begin on Wednesday. The Kid’s Choir will meet at 6:30 p.m and the Chancel Choir will meet at 7 p.m. All singers and musicians are welcome.
• Rally Day and the kick-off of the new Sunday school program, LIVE, will begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 9. The new program uses hands-on Bibles filled with science experiments, crafts, Bible hero biographies, fun facts and more.

TRUCKSVILLE: Cross Creek Community Church, 370 Carverton Road, is starting its AWANA program at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11. The goal of the program is to reach children with the gospel of Christ and to train them to serve. The program also helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children.
AWANA meets at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday during the school year. The CrossRoads and Revive youth groups for grades 6-12 and adult Bible studies also take place during this time.

WILKES-BARRE: The CCD program of Our Lady of Hope Parish is holding registration after the 4 p.m. Mass on Aug. 31 and after the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Masses on Sept. 1 in Marymount Parish Center. New registrations require a copy of the child’s baptism certificate.
