Over 20 area high school students will exhibit artworks in various media in the 11th Invitational Emerging High School Artists Exhibition at King’s College from Sept. 20 to Oct. 25. The exhibit will honor some of the best and the brightest artistic students from 16 area high schools in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Each student was invited to participate based on their artistic talent and past record of exhibitions and awards.
Exhibiting students from the Back Mountain area include Maria Ansilio, Dana Capitano, Maggie Fannick, Amanda Martin, Kelsey Monahan, Erin Muldoon, Troy Reinert, Allison Stallard, Kayla Wanek, and Madison Ziemba all of Dallas High School; Caroline Banas, Nicole Cavanaugh and Abby Spencer from Holy Redeemer; Carolyn Kerkowski, Micayla Payne, Lily Romanowski and Madison Stambaugh from Lake-Lehman High School; Merre Martin from Northwest Area High School; Sahil Garg and Anthony Nardone, from Scranton Preparatory School; Ryan Frania and Andrew Levandoski from Wyoming Seminary. They will be joined by other high school artists from the Tunkhannock and Wyoming Valley areas.
The public is invited to a Meet-the-Artists reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Widmann Gallery, Sheehy-Farmer Campus Center, King’s College, Wilkes-Barre. A gallery talk will be held at 7 p.m. that evening by many of the artists. The exhibit continues through Friday, Oct. 25.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibit is coordinated by Sue Hand, artist and educator who holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from King’s College.
