Zachariah Faust Durkin
   
July 23, 1995
    Zachariah Faust Durkin, 23, of Academy Street, Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at
   
Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn in Kingston, he was the son of the Bette
Faust DeSante of Wilkes-Barre and Thomas F. Durkin, Wilkes-Barre.
   
A 1990 graduate of E. L. Meyers High School, he also was a 1995 graduate of
Luzerne County Community College, where he received his associate’s degree in
robotics technology and automated systems.
   
While in high school, he was active with the soccer, swim and golf teams.
   
At Luzerne County Community College, he was president of the science
fiction fan club.
   
A lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, he was an active member of the E-CAP
Cancers Survivors Group.
   
He worked for the Genetti Hotel & Convention Center, Wilkes-Barre, and was
a volunteer at Mercy Hospital’s Pediatric Unit.
   
Surviving, in addition to this parents, are brother, Malachi Durkin,
Wilkes-Barre; step-father, George W. DeSante, Wilkes-Barre; numerous aunts and
uncles.
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Frederick & Snowdon
Funeral ~Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre with Char Maue, chaplain for the
Hospice Community Care, Inc., Kingston, officiating.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.
