BLOOMSBURG: The Back Mountain Kennel Club is holding its 79th and 80th All Breed Dog Shows and Obedience Trials on Nov. 2 and 3 at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.

Judging begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day until one dog is awarded the Best in Show. Entries may reach 1,000 dogs competing each day.

The club will be offering informal dog show tours by exhibitors. Inquiries are welcome at the trophy table.

More than 200 dogs also compete in obedience and rally trials held in a separate building.

All judging is done indoors and admission and parking are free. Food is available. Dogs not entered in the shows will not be allowed in the buildings.

For the judging times visit www.raudogshows.com and click on judging programs. The information will be available a week before the shows.

EXETER: The Wyoming Area School District, in accordance with the Concussion Management Policy, is holding an information meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Secondary Center auditorium, 20 Memorial Street. The meeting is for all athletes, parents, coaches and district personnel. The public is also invited to attend.

HANOVER TWP.: Village Pet Supplies and Gifts is holding a year-long fundraiser to support the efforts of Blue Chip Farms. The goal is to raise $10,000 by Oct. 1, 2014.

Village Pets’ number-one selling biscuit line, Cloud Star Buddy Biscuits, is giving $1 to Blue Chip for each bar code from their biscuit line that is returned by customers to Village Pet Supplies. Village Pet has already had more than 500 bar codes returned. The hope is to have 2,000 bar codes returned by Oct. 1, 2014.

For the holiday season, Village Pet is doing a “Guess how many biscuits are in the jar” contest. Each $1 donation to Blue Chip is good for two guesses at the total number of biscuits in a jar. The person who guesses closest to the actual number of biscuits, without going over, will win the jar full of biscuits. There are three jars and there will be three winners. Winners without dogs can donate the biscuits to Blue Chip, if desired.

Other fundraisers planned for 2014 include a doggie beauty contest and a dog wedding. Watch for more details in the spring.

To help Village Pet reach its goal, stop in 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
