In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the Wilkes-Barre Car Club and Domestic Violence Service Center (DVSC) are hosting a ‘Trunk or Treat’ event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. The free, family-fun event features the gathering of treats from the trunks of classic cars. DVSC will be on hand to promote its programs. Car owners will open the trunks of their cars and fill them with candy. All children in costume will be able to grab candy treats from the trunks. Michael Mondy, branch manager, National Penn Bank, Kingston, donated candy bags for the event. Kids in costume accompanied by parents will also receive a reusable cloth tote bag. Some of the participants, from left, are Tommy Martin, Wilkes-Barre Car Club; Mondy; and Victoria Martin, Wilkes-Barre Car Club.
