The Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming Counties celebrated Active Aging Day on Sept. 12 on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. The day included an early bird bingo at the Charles T. Adams Active Adult Center and a Zumba Gold demonstration provided by Tony Balucha, Ali and his Zumba Gold volunteers from the Wilkes-Barre YMCA. The belly dancers from the Kingston Active Adult Center performed and Stanky and the Coal Miners entertained the crowd with polka favorites. The Wilkes-Barre Health Department administered flu vaccinations and Delphine Torbik spoke to the crowd regarding flu facts. Guest speakers also included Trula Hollywood, executive director, Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties; Drew McLaughlin, assistant to the mayor; Jim Bobeck, Luzerne County Council member; and Tim McGinley, Luzerne County Council chairman.
