NEWPORT TWP.: The Newport Township American Legion Post 539 Auxiliary, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is sponsoring a blood drive from 2-7 p.m. on Monday at the post home, 62 Newport St., Glen Lyon.
There will also be two raffles for $25 each. Winners will be announced at the end of the evening. Non-donors can enter. Free T-shirts will be given away while supplies last. Cub or Boy Scouts who bring in potential donors are eligible for certain award medals.

NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA: First National Community Bank (FNCB) is continuing its Simply Smart Program, which rewards students with $1 for every A on their report card.
To participate, students can bring their report cards to any FNCB location and the qualifying reward will be deposited into their youth savings account. If they don’t have an account, parents may open one easily.
Simply Smart is part of FNCB’s larger education efforts that include employee volunteers who teach financial literacy and money management skills in Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wayne county schools.

WILKES-BARRE: Members of the Wilkes University Polish Room are selling their cookbook, “Smacznego!.” Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Polish Room Committee Scholarship given annually to a Wilkes University student.
The cookbook, in its second printing, contains hundreds of recipes gathered from members and friends of the Polish Room. The recipes, many of them Polish, include appetizers, soups, salads, main and side dishes, desserts and more.
