MOOSIC: Oakwood Terrace, a memory care community, 400 Gleason Drive, is hosting a candle lighting ceremony in honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Caregivers, family and friends are invited to share memories and light “candles of care” to remember and honor those whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s and other memory loss diseases.

The Most Rev. Bishop James C. Timlin, Diocese of Scranton, will lead the attendees in prayer and bestow a blessing. Pastor Doug Jensen, Moosic Alliance Church, and Moosic Mayor James Segilia, will also address the group. The community will also receive a special proclamation in recognition of the event.

The annual event is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Refreshments will be served.
