Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

• Alton Mark Lane, 31, of Miller Street, Wilkes-Barre, was charged Monday with threatening to kill his wife and his wife’s family.

Lane was charged with terroristic threats and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Police were summoned at about 7 p.m. Sunday to the Miller Street home, where they found the defendant outside.

Jamie Marie Lane told police he was arguing with her and threatened her and her family with a knife. Lane locked herself in a bedroom for several hours until police were called to the home. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5 in Central Court.

• Donald Fuller, of Harriet Street, reported Saturday that someone stole his red, four-door Chevrolet Cavalier, Pennsylvania license plate DZR-8104, while it was parked near his home. The car has a “Soccer Mom” decal in the rear window.

• Nathaniel Still was arrested on evidence of drunken driving around 3:40 a.m. Sunday on North Wilkes-Barre Boulevard after officers observed him commit an traffic violation. He was taken for testing, which he refused, police said.

• Kashawn Dupre Oliver, 26, of Hanover Township, was arrested on evidence of drunken driving around 12:20 a.m. Sunday at Stanton Street and Hazle Avenue after officers observed him commit a traffic violation. He was arrested on a warrant for failure to respond to a summons. A chemical test of his blood-alcohol content confirmed it was over the limit at which an adult driver in the state is considered intoxicated.

• Ayesha M. Platt, 22, of Philadelphia, and Richard Dunn, 51, of Pine Street, were arrested on outstanding warrants after they were identified during a traffic stop on Feb. 17 on Pine Street. A search turned up heroin, liquid-laced marijuana, $1,600 cash and cocaine.

Platt was wanted on checks and fraud warrants in Norristown and Lancaster County. Dunn was wanted on theft-related charges in Columbia and Luzerne counties. They were both charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, and were placed in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

• Ishmael Garrett, 27, of Wilkes-Barre, was arrested around 4 p.m. Feb. 17 on South Welles Street after he was found in possession of marijuana during a traffic stop.

• Lamar Bobbett, 22, of 266 E. Northampton St., was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Feb. 17 on East Northampton Street after a search warrant found him in possession of marijuana.

• Kenneth Parkinson, of Quakertown, reported Monday that copper pipe was stolen from a home on Carey Avenue.

• Erin O’Neill reported Monday that a satellite radio was stolen from her car while it was parked in the area of 230 New Mallory Place.

• Police said a man attempted to cash a forged check at First National Community Bank, West Market Street, on Monday. The man fled when bank employees questioned the validity of the check.

• Police said a white man, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, wearing a brown coat, attempted to steal money from the Turkey Hill Minit Market on North Pennsylvania Avenue just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the man covered his face with a headband and demanded money from a clerk. The clerk refused to open the cash register, police said.

• Bryan Anderson reported Monday audio equipment was stolen from his car when it was parked in the area of 165 N. Sheridan St.

• Daniel Jason Edwards, 24, of West Main Street, Nanticoke, was charged Tuesday with two counts of contraband and a single count of criminal trespass after police said he was captured placing cigarettes inside a gate at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

According to the criminal complaint:

A correctional officer observed Edwards walking outside the perimeter fence and acting suspiciously near the sally port gate at about 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Edwards was detained by correctional officers, who found two packages wrapped with black electrical tape on an empty rack inside a secured gate.

Police said the packages contained cigarettes, which are illegal inside the prison.

Edwards told police he didn’t see numerous “No Trespassing” signs posted alongside the facility.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5 in Central Court.

• Ana Vasquez, of Marlborough Avenue, reported items were stolen during a burglary at her residence on Monday.

PLAINS TWP. – A Wilkes-Barre man was charged Tuesday with trespassing at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino after he refused to leave the establishment.

George Paul Blauer, 39, of Hortense Street, was charged with two counts of criminal trespass, and one count each of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the state police gaming enforcement unit:

Security at the casino encountered Blauer during a disturbance near the bar at about 11:35 p.m. Monday. Blauer was asked to leave the casino, but he refused. He continued sitting at the bar playing a slot machine.

Police said Blauer repeatedly refused to leave the casino. He was taken to the security office and charged with criminal trespassing.

Blauer was escorted to the lobby and released to his wife. Blauer continued to refuse to leave the casino. He began yelling profanities and struggled with police, the criminal complaint says.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5.

EDWARDSVILLE – Melissa Ann Naudus, 28, of Roosevelt Street, Edwardsville, was charged Tuesday with stealing a vehicle.

Naudus was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, false identification to police, driving without a license and a traffic offense.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Edwardsville police:

Naudus was stopped for driving a vehicle without headlights at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Naudus identified herself using several different names. Police learned Naudus had stolen the car from a residence in Edwardsville.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 5 in Central Court.

AVOCA – Police reported the following incidents:

• Walter M. Sokalsky, 61, of Main Street, was captured Sunday on an outstanding arrest warrant from Lackawanna County Court. Police said Sokalsky was wanted for failing to appear in Lackawanna Court on a bad check charge in September.

• John Patrick Cruz, 20, of Clarks Summit, was arrested on evidence of drunken driving and possession of marijuana.

Police said Cruz was stopped on Main Street in the early morning hours on Feb. 18 for driving a vehicle without the headlights turned on.

Police said Cruz appeared intoxicated and was given a blood-alcohol test that showed a level of 0.14 percent.

A person under 21 years old is considered legally intoxicated in Pennsylvania with a blood alcohol level of 0.02 percent.

Cruz was also found in possession of marijuana, police said. He was charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence of alcohol and several traffic violations, police said.

WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Township police reported the following incidents:

• Lisa Daubert, 26, Kingston, was charged with retail theft after police said she exited the JC Penney Department Store, Wyoming Valley Mall, without paying for $120 in merchandise on Friday. She was also found with a syringe, police said.

Daubert was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Terruzzi Enrico, 58, Swoyersville, was charged with retail theft after police said he exited the JC Penney Department Store, Wyoming Valley Mall, without paying for $40 in merchandise on Friday.

Jaqueline Fuentes reported that someone stole her purse while she was at Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The estimated value of the theft was $30, police said.

Christopher Sipsky reported someone stole a GPS unit, worth about $250, from the interior of his 1997 Chevrolet, which was parked in the parking lot of Grotto Pizza at Wyoming Valley Mall around 10:18 p.m. Monday.

Shelly Otto reported someone stole her purse from her car in the parking lot of Red Robin Restaurant at 10:30 p.m. Monday. The estimated value of the theft is $50, police said.
