Police Blotter

BUTLER TWP. – A Tamaqua man faces a contempt of court charge and two summary charges after he allegedly held his ex-girlfriend against her will, choked her and bit her face, police said.

Township police said Barry L. Bridygham, 18, of West Union Street, went to his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend’s residence on Edgerock Drive at about 4 a.m. Saturday, pulled her into a car and refused to let her out for more than two hours as he drove around.

Police said the woman tried to escape, but Bridygham fought with her. She eventually negotiated with Bridygham to return to her place. She called police while Bridygham waited for her to return to his vehicle, police said.

Bridygham fled but was found and stopped by township police on state Route 309 and 31st Street, police said.

He was charged with indirect criminal contempt for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order and was also cited with underage drinking and failing to have a current inspection sticker on his vehicle. He was arraigned before District Judge Daniel O’Donnell and lodged at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 30 in Central Court.

BUTLER TWP. – Township police reported the following:

• A resident of the 100 block of Woodside Drive told police someone damaged his mailbox with a baseball bat or similar object on the evening of April 17.

• Robert E. Bollman, 48, of the Drums section of the township, was cited with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found to be intoxicated by members of Valley Regional EMS after they responded to a parking lot for an unknown emergency at about 10:30 p.m. April 18, police said.

• Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash in which the vehicle of Deborah Jones, 56, of West Butler Drive, Drums, was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle while she was stopped at the intersection of South Main Road and North Hunter Highway at about 4 p.m. on April 20. The vehicle fled north on Hunter Highway.

• A resident of Tracey Lane in Drums told police at about 7 p.m. Thursday that someone cut a padlock off a storage building near his home and stole several motors, servos and receivers from the shed. The stolen items are used to power and operate model airplanes, police said.

• AT&T Mobile officials told police last week that three copper ground buss bars were stolen from a cell tower site in the township. The buss bars, which measure about 4 inches by 16 inches, are used to ground cell towers. Police said the theft appears to be related to at least seven other thefts in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

• Police are investigating an assault on a 19-year-old female student at Keystone Job Corps Center. Police have identified the male suspect and are continuing an investigation, they said.

• A Birch Court resident told police on Friday that a silver girl’s Trek mountain bike valued at about $300 was stolen from outside her home.

• Keystone Job Corps student Aaron Whye, 18, of New Kensington, was cited with underage drinking after police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the neighborhood on Saturday from a Makara Drive resident and found Whye in Possession of three 1-liter bottles of whiskey.

Police said someone in a blue Dodge Intrepid provided the whiskey; they continue to investigate the incident.

PLYMOUTH – A man was charged by police for allegedly exposing himself and assaulting a police officer.

Edward K. Reisser, 43, of Turner Street, Plymouth, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and open lewdness. The charges were filed with District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke.

According to the criminal complaint, police found Reisser urinating in the area of 167 E. Main St. on April 8. Reisser was taken to the police department where he spat in his hand and lunged at an officer.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on May 28 in Central Court.

NEWPORT TWP. – Police charged a Nanticoke man for allegedly assaulting a man with an all-terrain vehicle and damaging a field.

Stuart Joseph Fenner Jr., 20, of Espy Street, was charged with two counts of institutional vandalism, and one count each of simple assault, reckless endangerment, trespass by vehicle and failing to have insurance. The charges were filed with District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke.

According to the criminal complaint:

Jason Doknovitch told township police he escorted his girlfriend, Samantha Arnold, to meet Fenner, the father of Arnold’s child, near St. Mary’s Cemetery on Belles Road on April 5. Doknovitch claimed Fenner arrived on an ATV and told Doknovitch to move away from Arnold and his child.

When Doknovitch refused, he claimed Fenner taunted him by driving in circles on the ATV. Doknovitch attempted to leave but was struck in the leg by the ATV. Police allege Fenner sped away causing ruts in the ground.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on May 28 in Central Court.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• Mark J. Howard, 28, of New Alexander Street, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct for playing loud music on April 15. Police said Howard yelled profanities and made animal noises at offices, according to arrest records.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on May 21 in Central Court.

• Beryle Stover, of Pittston, reported Friday someone used her lost debit card to purchase items in Wilkes-Barre, police said.

• Two people were taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle crash at Academy and South Franklin streets at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Police said Trevor Lieb, of Edwardsville, collided with a motorcycle driven by Joseph Pissott, of Wilkes-Barre. Pissott and a passenger, Lisa Groski, of Wilkes-Barre, were transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, police said.

• Jonna Pollick, of South River Street, reported Sunday someone stole items from her residence during a burglary, police said.

• James Gronski, of North Sherman Street, reported on Sunday a handgun was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the area of Hillside and East Northampton streets, police said.

• Tom Toth, of Barney Street, reported Sunday someone stole a stained-glass window during a burglary at 209 Barney St., police said.

• Donna Wills, of Oak Street, reported Sunday someone stole a radio and a global position system unit from her vehicle when it was parked in the area of 118 Oak St., police said.

• Police said Brendan Prado, 21, of North Washington Street, is facing charges of criminal trespass and false identification to law enforcement in connection with an incident at Sherman Hills on Saturday.

• Linda Kastner, 38, of North Main Street, alleged Saturday that Joseph Borum, 42, of East Northampton Street, pushed her down in the area of 295 N. Main St., police said.

• Police said Donald Bartlow, 55, of Parrish Street, was captured on Saturday on an arrest warrant issued in Northumberland County. Bartlow was taken into custody at 270 Parrish St., police said.

NESCOPECK TWP. – A Nanticoke woman was taken to a hospital after a police pursuit through several municipalities Sunday night, state police at Shickshinny said.

Police said Debra Ann Dykins, 49, failed to stop for a Newport Township police officer. Dykins was pursued through Newport Township and the townships of Conyngham and Nescopeck, where she collided with a railroad crossing sign on River Road.

Dykins was ejected from the vehicle and was flown to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, police said.

DALLAS - Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Sunoco service station on Memorial Highway on Sunday.

Police said a man concealing his face with a mask and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and tan rubber gloves entered the service station at about 11 p.m. and threatened a clerk with a knife.The man fled with money and was last seen running south on Memorial Highway, police said.

Police said the Swoyersville police canine lost the man’s scent along Toby Creek, near Offset Paperback. The store clerk wasn’t injured, police said.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery is asked to contact Dallas police at 675-0161 or 911.

PITTSTON – An off-duty police officer and a state police trooper captured a man in connection with a robbery Sunday.

Shawn Michael Hudock, 28, of Birchwood Estates, Exeter, faces charges for allegedly stealing a cash register from G&G Express Mini Mart, South Main Street, at about 11 p.m.

According to the criminal complaint:

Pittston officer James Scott, who was off-duty, was passing the mini mart when he noticed Hudock carrying a cash register. Hudock ran away and was chased by Scott.

Hudock climbed onto a building’s roof. He climbed back down and was chased by Scott and a state trooper on Winter Street. He was captured after he was found sitting on a home’s rear porch.

Police said they recovered the cash register on Boyd Street.

Hudock was also charged by Pittston Township police for allegedly attempting to rob Perkins Restaurant, state Route 315, on Sunday.

Township police allege Hudock entered the restaurant and asked to change a $20 bill. He pulled out a $20 bill and a knife from his pocket, demanding money from the cashier. He also claimed he had AIDS.

Hudock was charged with robbery, theft, criminal attempt to commit robbery and criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault. He was arraigned Monday morning and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 total bail.

Preliminary hearings are tentatively scheduled on May 6 in Central Court.
