Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – A city man was arrested and charged for allegedly robbing a Turkey Hill store on Thursday morning.

Charles Douglas Williams Jr., 25, of 19 Simpson St., was arraigned on two counts of robbery and one count each of theft by unlawful taking and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county prison for lack of $100,000 straight bail.

Police allege Williams threatened to shoot a clerk and demanded money from the cash register at Turkey Hill, 632 Carey Ave., at 4:38 a.m.

The store is located just around the corner from Williams’ home.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

Police said an unknown person stole two donation canisters for the Ronald McDonald House from the counter at McDonald’s, 150 E. Northampton St., around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

John Deleman, 18, of New Grove Street, reported at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday that he was walking on Parrish Street when an unknown man walked up to him and punched him in the face several times, police said. Deleman was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Patricia Arasin, 64, of Carey’s Point, N.J., reported at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday that someone pried open a door and stole a TV from a residence at 68 W. Hollenback St., police said.

Police said someone broke into Pancho Villa, 495 S. Main St., and stole cash and cell phones on Wednesday afternoon.

• Police said Joseph Goryl, 26, of Wilkes-Barre, will be cited with harassment after Jennifer Breish of Stanley Street reported Goryl grabbed her arm and shoved her early Wednesday morning.

• Police said Martin Lawrence Jr., 53, of Wilkes-Barre was northbound on North Main Street late Sunday when he struck a vehicle driven by Joshua Kovalski, 20, of Mountain Top. Both vehicles were towed.

DURYEA – Eric Chrobak of Thornhurst was arrested Tuesday on evidence of drunken driving. Police said he also threatened his wife and father in-law.

Police encountered Chrobak in his black pickup on McAlpine Street after they were dispatched to a house on Wright Street. Police said Chrobak was attempting to break in and was shouting threats at Thomas Filipkowski and Cherie Chrobak. Chrobak was arraigned before District Judge Fred Pierantoni III of Pittston and was jailed on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for May 21.

HAZLETON -- Pablo Delossantos-Gomez of Hazleton was charged Wednesday with possessing a stolen firearm.

He was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant after police responded to a noise complaint on Diamond Avenue. Police said they later found a stolen handgun on the floor of the vehicle that Delossantos-Gomez admitted placing there.

He was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Zola of Hazleton and jailed on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was set for May 21.

NESCOPECK TWP. -- A motorcycle and car collided Wednesday morning on state Route 93 at East Cherry Road, police said.

Police said 75-year-old Charlotte Conrad, of Nescopeck, driving a Mercury sedan, was trying to turn left onto East Cherry Road when Wayne Marks, 37, of Berwick, attempted to pass her on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Marks, who was not wearing a helmet, hit Conrad’s driver-side door and was thrown from his motorcycle. Marks, who suffered a severe injury after landing on the opposite side of Conrad’s vehicle, was assisted by Sugarloaf Fire and EMS and Nescopeck Fire and EMS.

WILKES-BARRE – A city man who allegedly fled the scene of a crash was arrested Monday afternoon.

Christopher R. Wilkinson, 25, of 218 Moyallen St., was arraigned Tuesday morning on charges of accidents involving death or personal injury, failure to stop and give information, failure to notify police of an accident and not having required financial responsibility.

Wilkinson was taken to Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 straight bail.

Police allege Wilkinson, driver of a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe in the area of 388 N. River St. at 1:51 p.m. The other driver, Ronald Hillard, was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for a back injury.

Wilkinson fled without stopping to render aid or provide his financial information, the criminal complaint states. Police said he later returned to the crash scene.

A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for May 20 in Central Court.

NANTICOKE – City police reported the following:

• Eclipse Collision Center, West Union Street, reported May 6 that someone cut a chain-link fence and hacked apart several van bodies and stole aluminum from the business.

• Mark Tarnowski reported Friday someone stole a stereo from his vehicle while it was parked near his residence on East Union Street.

• Chad Fullerton, 23, of Apollo Circle, was arrested on Saturday on allegations he violated a protection from abuse order when he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.

• Paula Pucci reported Saturday someone stole numerous hanging flower baskets and potted plants from a Flower Tent set up on Lower Broadway.

• Desmond McCarthy, of Glen Lyon, reported Saturday someone stole an i-phone from his vehicle while it was parked at the Uni-Mart.

• Melissa McGovern reported on Sunday someone stole landscape lighting from her yard on Pine Street.

• Brittnee Jeckell, of Mountain Top, reported Monday someone damaged her vehicle while it was parked on Christian Street.

• Gregory John Winslow, 33, of East Spring Street, Nanticoke, is facing charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching a woman on Thursday.

Mary Tesar told police Winslow punched her several times in the head because he was upset that he missed playing darts, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said Tesar suffered facial injuries.

A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a later date.

WHITE HAVEN – A man has been summoned to answer charges for allegedly striking a man on the head with an assault rifle earlier this month.

Anthony Vino, 39, of 512 Berwick St., was issued a summons on Friday on counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal mischief and criminal trespass, court records show. A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for June 16 in Central Court.

White Haven police allege Vino threatened and struck Robert Kennedy in the head with the weapon at 514 Berwick St. on May 2.

Kennedy suffered a head wound and treated at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

WILKES-BARRE – Two men were arrested for allegedly selling crack cocaine to a confidential informant on Monday.

Vincent L. Thomas, 40, of Pleasantville, N.J., and Roody Beauvoir, 21, of Wilkes-Barre, were arraigned Tuesday morning on a felony charge of manufacturing, delivering, possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver illegal drugs, court records show.

Beauvoir was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree misdemeanor, and criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony.

Both are jailed at the county prison for lack of $25,000 straight bail.

State police at Wyoming allege Beauvoir used a cell phone to arrange a drug transaction involving crack cocaine in the area of Prospect and Loomis streets. Police further allege Thomas conspired with Beauvoir in delivering the drug.

Preliminary hearings have been tentatively scheduled for May 20 in Central Court.
