Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

Darren Simonson, 49, of Plains Township, and Peter McGinnis, 49, and Richard Simonson, 48, both of Wilkes-Barre, were arrested on the evidence of public drunkenness after police alleged, the trio were found intoxicated under the Market Street Bridge on Thursday.

Alissa Wright, 19, of Wilkes-Barre, will be cited with harassment for allegedly striking and kicking a woman during a dispute on Hanover Street on Wednesday night.

WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Township police reported the following:

Township police arrested two teens, ages 14 and 15, from Ashley and Wilkes-Barre, respectively, for shoplifting at JC Penney, Wyoming Valley Mall, at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.

Store security alleged the teens concealed a combined $112 worth of merchandise and left the store. They will both be charged with a summary count of retail theft, police said.

Miguelina Abreu reported at 1:15 a.m. Friday that someone had stolen a rental car owned by Ean Trust Enterprise Car Rental of Harrisburg. The vehicle, a silver 2009 Nissan Sentra sedan, was in the parking lot of Kmart, Blackman Plaza.

HUNTINGTON TWP. – A one-vehicle crash on State Highway 4014, about 1,300 feet west of Academy Street in Huntington Township at 9:55 p.m. Friday, sent one person to the hospital and is being investigated as a possible drunk-driving case by state police from Shickshinny.

William Schamberger, 60, of Berwick was driving a 2003 Ford Escape westbound on the highway when he traveled off the road and hit a utility pole, support wire pole and tree. The vehicle spun and came to rest facing southbound.

A passenger, Sandra Schamberger, 46, of Berwick, was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville with severe injuries. Sandra Schamberger was in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.

State police are waiting toxicology results.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• Someone reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday that someone damaged a tire on a vehicle while it was parked on South Meade Street. Repair cost is $250.

• Rodger Lee Fischer, 32, and Brian Pillonato, 42, both of Wilkes-Barre, were cited with harassment in connection with a fight. Fischer and Pillonato blamed each other for starting the fight and struck each other, police said.

• Terri Kamler, 40, of Kingston was arrested on the suspicion of public drunkenness after police observed her at the corner of North Franklin and West Market streets at 7:21 p.m. Friday.

• Darren Simonson, 49, of Plains Township was charged with public drunkenness after police observed him on South Franklin Street at 8:39 p.m. Friday.

• Someone reported at 4:26 p.m. Friday that a 60-inch television worth $1,500 was taken from her apartment on Kidder Street.

• Dennis McKeown, 37, was arrested on the evidence of public drunkenness after police observed him on South Main Street at 8:19 p.m. Friday. Police said suspected drigs were allegedly found on McKeown.

•Someone reported at 2:40 p.m. Friday that removed property valued was taken at $6,325 from Riverside Drive.

•Megan Jones, 26, of Hughes Street reported at 2:12 a.m. on Saturday that Greg Smith, 31, of Hughes Street punched her in the face, police said.

WEST HAZLETON – Two people were arrested in connection with a retail theft at Weis Markets on Saturday night.

Police responded around 6:45 p.m. to the store after loss prevention alleged Brenda Delzell, 44, and James Fellin, 55, both of West Hazleton, attempted to leave without paying for $91.92 worth of merchandise.

The duo will have 10 days to answer retail theft charges filed against them through District Judge Thomas Sharkey’s office in Hazle Township, police said.

PLAINS TWP. – State police at Wyoming are investigating a hit-and-run crash northbound on Interstate 81 Friday afternoon.

A vehicle was stopped for unknown reasons in the roadway creating a traffic hazard, police said. Kimberly A. Baransky, 21, of Bear Creek Township, moved her 2008 Suzuki Forenza from the Route 309 ramp to the right lane of the interstate to avoid the other vehicle.

Baransky applied her brakes in an attempt to avoid being struck, but the other vehicle continued moving into the right lane where it then struck the right front end of he car.

The vehicle, described as a white four-door sedan operated by a woman with long blond hair and glasses, fled the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wyoming barracks at 697-2000.

WEST HAZLETON – State police at Hazleton are looking for a missing 15-year-old girl who was last seen Friday afternoon.

Police said the mother of the girl reported her daughter, Luissanna Polanco, missing on Saturday. The girl left her home at 122 S. Broad St. around 1 p.m. Friday to go to Hazleton Area High School to pick up her report card and never returned home.

The girl is described as 5 feet tall, 142 pounds and red-dyed hair, police said. She was last seen wearing green shorts and sandals.

Anyone who knows her whereabouts is asked to contact the Hazleton barracks at 459-3890.
