WILKES-BARRE – A West Nanticoke man was arraigned Friday on burglary and other related charges after police said he broke into a man’s home Thursday.

Nathan Ryan Norcross, 18, of East Poplar Street, was arraigned on charges of burglary and two counts of criminal trespassing. He was tentatively scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in Nanticoke.

According to police, they were called to 412 East Ridge Street for the report of a break-in. Police said they saw a ladder against a garage and a person on the ladder. People said they heard someone in the garage and tried to get in, and startled the person inside, later identified as Norcross.

Police said Norcross tried to break out a window on the second floor to escape, but was apprehended.

WILKES-BARRE – A city man was arraigned Friday on drug-related charges after a police informant told police he’d be at a local hotel in possession of drugs.

Phillip Gilliard, 32, of Walnut Street, was arraigned on charges of intention to possess a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 1 at 8:30 a.m. in Plains Township.

According to police, they received information from an informant that Gilliard was in a taxi cab and would be arriving at the Knights Inn and was possibly in possession of illegal drugs.

Police said they saw Gilliard exit the taxi, and ordered him to put his hands up. Before he did, police said he threw three small blue plastic bags on the floor of the cab, which police said was suspected crack cocaine.

WILKES-BARRE – A Kingston man was arraigned Friday on charges of criminal trespassing after police said he was on the campus of King’s College several times without permission and caused a disturbance.

Patrick James Tosh, 57, of Rutter Avenue, was arraigned on two counts of criminal trespassing. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre Central Court.

According to police, Tosh was trespassing on school grounds near the Sheehy Farmer Student Center several times on Thursday. Police said Tosh had ignored prior notices to not come onto the property after causing disturbances.

WILKES-BARRE – A Hazleton man was arraigned Friday morning on forgery charges after police said he changed a prescription to try to obtain more Vicodin pills.

Harvey Anthony McAfee, 52, of Muir Avenue, was arraigned on charges of attempting forgery and two counts of forgery. McAfee was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. in Hazleton.

According to police, on Thursday afternoon, McAfee submitted a subscription for 30 tablets of Vicodin. Police said the amount on the bottle was changed from 10 to 30 tablets, and from Vicodin to Vicodin ES. McAfee’s doctor confirmed that he had issued him 10 tablets of Vicodin.

While being transported to the Hazleton police station, McAfee told police he forged the prescription because he was in too much pain.
