HAZLE TWP. – State police at Hazleton said they charged two men with using a stolen check to purchase items at a Wal-Mart store last month.
Kenneth L. Kryworuka, 35, of Barnesville, is accused of stealing a check from 27-year-old Jennifer Ann Dunlop while she was in her residence at 1338 Harwood Road, Harwood, on Nov. 17, police said.
Police said Kryworuka went to Wal-Mart and gave Richard J. Lee, a cashier, a phone card to allow him to use a stolen check to purchase a Dell laptop computer and another phone card.
Kryworuka and Lee, 18, of Drums, were both charged by state police with identity theft and access devices fraud. Charges of forgery and theft were additionally filed against Kryworuka, police said.
Lee was also charged with conspiracy to commit forgery, police said.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
Wilima Snopek of Wilkes-Barre reported on Tuesday that an unknown person burned her Pittsburgh Steelers flag on her front porch at 165 S. Sherman St.
A 15-year-old city boy reported on Tuesday night that he was walking home with a friend when three unknown men wearing reddish-orange scarves came out from behind a house and attacked him in the area of Poplar Street and Barr Lane.
Police said the teen said they began striking him and went through his pocket – taking his cell phone. The suspects then fled on foot.
An unknown person removed assorted video game systems, games and controllers, nunchucks, cash and prescription medication from 58 W. Sidney St. on Wednesday.
A safe was stolen from Wilkes-Barre Republic Club, 280 S. Sheridan St., on Dec. 3.
Someone removed a Nanticoke woman’s purse in the area of Public Square around 4 p.m. Friday.
