Cops: 2 women charged in fight Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police charged two women on Wednesday with assaulting each other and possessing a bag of syringes.

Jillena Joy Smith, 24, and Barbara Sue Mains, 26, both from North Pennsylvania Avenue, were charged with 22 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a single count of simple assault. They were jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $1,000 bail each.

Police said Smith and Mains were fighting in their residence at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police said they attempted to hide a bag containing 20 syringes and two spoons in a clothes hamper, according to the criminal complaint.

Preliminary hearings are tentatively scheduled on Nov. 5 in Wilkes-Barre Central Court.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

A 14-year-old city girl reported at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday that she was sexually assaulted by three males in the 200 block of Hazle Avenue.

Linda Letteer, of 175 S. Meade St., reported at 7:29 a.m. Wednesday that someone forced entry into her garage, damaging the automatic door opening mechanism. A Craftsman 60-gallon air compressor – valued at $1,200 was stolen.

Officers allege Ruth Publik, 27, of Carey Avenue, stole merchandise from Family Dollar, 404 S. Main St., just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Someone removed mail from a man’s mailbox at about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday.

A complainant reported at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday that someone damaged freshly poured concrete by marking “get money” and “kandy manigle” on it on South Washington Street.

Officer Ken Jones said he observed Sharita Davis, 29, and Tamika Harley, 28, both of Wilkes-Barre, fighting in the area of South Main and West South streets at 9:08 a.m. Tuesday. Both were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
