Cops: Four cited after fight at shopping plaza Police Blotter

HAZLETON – Four people were cited with disorderly conduct after they were found fighting at the West Broad Street Shopping Plaza on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Police identified them as Leocadia Rojas, 42, of 624 Carson St., Hazleton; Juan Santiago Rojas, 40, of 208 E. Oak St., West Hazleton; Elvis Burgos Perez, 30, of 819 W. Diamond Ave., Apt. 3, Hazleton; and Janelli Torres Marrero, 21, of 819 W. Diamond Ave., Apt. 2, Hazleton.

NESCOPECK TWP. – A Wisconsin man was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries after a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon, police said.

State police at Hazleton said Robert E. Friedman, 77, of Milwaukee, was westbound on Route 80, near Tank Road, when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his 2003 Mercedes-Benz, which drifted off onto the north shoulder of the roadway before hitting a guide rail.

Police said an ambulance took Friedman to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• Someone tried to use a stolen credit card at the Denny’s restaurant on Kidder Street just before 5 p.m. Friday.

• Joseph Ramsey, 60, of Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre, was cited with public drunkenness after an incident at 5:24 p.m. Friday at South Main and Sullivan streets, police said.

• Jaime White, of 16 Bertels Lane, reported at 3:30 p.m. Friday that video game equipment was stolen from the residence.

• Scott Walsh, of 148 Hanover St., reported at 6:30 p.m. Friday that money was taken from his residence.

• David Durham, of 267 Wyoming St., reported at 8:15 p.m. Friday that someone stole money from him.

• Laura Ruby, 31, of Wilkes-Barre, reported at 11:35 p.m. Friday that Patrick Lee, 41, of Wilkes-Barre, struck her in the left eye and ripped her shirt at 846 S. Franklin St., police said.

• John Jeffery, 19, of Wilkes-Barre, reported at 12:17 a.m. Saturday that a man struck him in the face several times while he was standing on the porch of 43 Monroe St.

• Ellen Stockage, of 518 S. Franklin St., reported at 11:18 p.m. Friday that someone stole a TV, video games and an X-Box 360 and PlayStation 2 game systems from her residence.

• Linda Fryer, at 308 N. Empire Court, Wilkes-Barre, reported at 12:29 p.m. Friday that someone tried to unlawfully cash a money order.
