WYOMING – A couple accused of running an eBay store scam in July were taken into custody in Lancaster County, borough officials say.
Benjamin Waltman, 27, and Kimberly Waltman, 25, both of Jenkins Township, were arraigned on charges of deceptive or fraudulent business practices, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy, police said.
The Waltmans were held on arrest warrants issued by Wyoming police, according to Wyoming Mayor Bob Boyer.
Police received several complaints from individuals who dropped off items to be sold at the eBay Drop Off Store, 316 Wyoming Ave., police said. The victims reported they had not received their merchandise back or the cash proceeds from the sale of their items.
Kimberly Waltman was returned to Luzerne County, while her husband remains jailed in Lancaster County. She was arraigned before Luzerne County District Judge Daniel O’Donnell, Sugarloaf Township, who set bail at $50,000.
Police said Benjamin Waltman is being held on an alleged receiving stolen property and weapons charge filed in Lancaster County. His bail was set at $60,000 cash bail.
Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for Sept. 8 in Luzerne County Central Court.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
A city man was taken to a hospital after he was shot several times in his leg by a BB gun at 78 Academy St. late Wednesday night.
Upon arrival, officers observed a black male, known only as “Mills,” walking north on South Franklin Street, according to police.
Officers stopped the male, who was later identified as Robert Hood, of Wilkes-Barre, and saw he was bleeding from his leg and lower back. The male didn’t want to cooperate with officers.
Hood was taken to Community Medical Center in Scranton for treatment. Police said Hood did cooperate with officers once at the hospital.
The incident is still under investigation, police said.
A city woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly concealing a teenage boy, who authorities found hiding in her closet.
Kimberly Derhammer, 35, of South Franklin Street, was charged with concealing the whereabouts of the 15-year-old boy, who was being cared for by Luzerne County Children and Youth Services, according to police.
The teen is back in custody with Children and Youth Services, police said.
