WILKES-BARRE – A Hazleton man was sentenced Tuesday to three to 12 months in county prison on charges he stole two Kitchen Aide mixers from Boscov’s.
Mark Anthony Scatton, 49, of North Laurel Street, was sentenced on a charge of retail theft by county Judge Hugh Mundy.
Scatton was ordered to pay $349.99 in restitution to Boscov’s Department Store in Hazle Township and received 14 days credit for time already served.
Police said Scatton, who pleaded guilty to the charge in October, was charged in March after a loss prevention officer detained Scatton, who left the store without paying for two mixers.
WILKES-BARRE – A Philadelphia man was sentenced Tuesday to 11 to 23 months in county prison on drug and other related charges.
Saleem Wilson, 29, was sentenced on charges of possession with intent to deliver; two counts of resisting arrest; and one count of driving with a suspended license by county Judge Hugh Mundy. Wilson pleaded guilty to the charges in October.
According to court records, on March 7, police stopped a vehicle driven by Wilson on South Washington Street that was going in the wrong direction.
When stopped, Wilson said he had no license and had to “get out of here.” Police said Wilson then pulled away and almost struck an officer, who was able to reach into the vehicle and pull the keys from the ignition.
Police removed Wilson from the vehicle and found bags containing suspected marijuana, two cell phones, cash totaling $1,050 and two digital scales.
