Former employee charged with theft Police Blotter

PITTSTON TWP. -- A former employee at Modern Gas Sales was charged Friday morning on allegations he was involved in the theft of $11,000 in gas sales, township police said.

Richard John Werner, 35, of Springbrook Avenue, Moosic, was charged with three counts of theft, police said. He surrendered at the office of District Judge Diana Malast in Plains Township and was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Assistant Police Chief Leonard Trotta:

Officials with Modern Gas Sales, Route 502, told police that Werner was involved in the theft of company property valued at $11,000. Werner was an employee with the company from November 2006 to February 2007, the criminal complaint says.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 6 in Central Court.

KINGSTON – Three people were arrested and charged with selling heroin from a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier coupe at Cook’s Pharmacy parking lot on Walnut Street and Wyoming Avenue late Friday afternoon.

Christopher Michael Ely, 30, of Noxen, Gregory Liddick, 29, of Mehoopany, and Kristie Ramey, 35, of Laceyville, are facing drug sale and manufacturing charges, state police at Wyoming said.

Officers from Troop P Wyoming barrack’s Vice/Narcotics Unit seized approximately three grams of suspected heroin during the investigation, state police said.

HANOVER TWP. – State police at Wyoming said a piece of metal fell from a vehicle on Interstate 81 and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Teresa A. Perrini, of Lake Ariel, on Thursday.

Perrini was traveling north on the interstate when metal fell from a vehicle traveling in front of her at about 3:45 p.m., police said. The driver of the other vehicle failed to stop.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on North Pennsylvania Avenue at East Market Street just before 7 a.m. Friday.

Adeynka Adeola, of Wilkes-Barre, was making a left turn from the avenue onto East Market Street when her 1997 Ford was struck by a 2006 Pontiac traveling south on North Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

The Pontiac was driven by Eugene Biglin, of Scranton, police said. No one was injured, but the Ford had to be towed, police said.

Police arrested a 17-year-old city male who provided officers with a false name after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Academy and South Franklin streets at 9:57 a.m. Thursday.

The teen, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and subsequently signed fingerprint cards at police headquarters with a false name, police said. A juvenile allegation will be filed against him on charges of forgery and false identification to law enforcement.

A complainant told police about spray-painted graffiti that was found on a building on North Sherman Street at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The cost of repair was not immediately known.

Police received a complaint about an unknown black male suspect who removed a cigar from a business on Carey Avenue after he failed to provide proof of his age early Friday evening. The value of the stolen cigar was $1.

A city teen will be cited for harassment after police say the 17-year-old male allegedly punched a 16-year-old from Plains and knocked him to the ground at Miners Mills Park on Thursday night.

Police said a male reported that someone smashed a window of his residence on Rowland Street at 4:29 p.m. Thursday, police said. The cost of repair was estimated at $395.
