Four are injured in two-vehicle crash Police Blotter

HAZLE TWP. – Four people suffered injuries after a two-vehicle crash late Friday afternoon.

State police at Hazleton said Alfredo Mestre Jr., 30, of Reading, driver of a 1993 Mitsubishi Galant, was stopped at a traffic light on Route 924 at its intersection with North Park Drive when a 1996 Ford truck rear-ended his car.

Police said Dennis L. Manjone III, 20, of Weston, who was operating the Ford, failed to stop. Both vehicles sustained damage and had to be towed.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, police said.

Two passengers in Mestre’s vehicle – Rodrick Pryce, 43, and Danfa W. Kabia, 27, both of Reading – suffered moderate injuries. All occupants were taken to Hazleton General Hospital.

PLAINS TWP. – Township police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in at the Woodlands Inn & Resort on Saturday.

Antonio Valle reported stereo components were stolen from his vehicle, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the police station at 829-3432.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

Someone removed a stereo system from a Pittston man’s 1995 Jeep in the area of South River and West Ross streets just before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Someone smashed a garage window at 39 Chester St. around 10 a.m. Friday.

A stereo system was taken from a Brick, N.J., man’s 1992 Plymouth in the area of South River and West Ross streets on Thursday.

Family Dollar’s loss prevention observed a woman attempting to leave the 404 S. Main St. store without paying for two television antennas on Thursday. She fled and left the items.

HANOVER TWP. – Township police said they are investigating a report of vandalism. Bruce Speary reported that a male juvenile rode a skateboard over his 1978 Buick. Charges are pending.
