Girl charged with assaulting police Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• A 16-year-old girl was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly assaulted police, pushing officers and striking Officer Brian Gist in the back with a glass table top when police responded to a loud noise complaint at 18 Logan St. at 1 a.m. Saturday, police said.

• Timothy Finan, 41, of High Street, Wilkes-Barre, will be cited with criminal trespass and harassment after Bruce Fairchild, of Mountain Top, reported at 5:31 p.m. Friday that Finan refused to leave his place of business at 379 S. Main St. after Fairchild made several requests for Finan to do so and Finan allegedly threw a punch at Fairchild, police said.

• Charles Chaffman, 35, of Davis Place, Wilkes-Barre, was cited with public drunkenness after an incident at 4:50 p.m. Sunday at 60 Davis Place, police said.

• A 15-year-old boy will be cited with harassment after William McCoy, of New Hill Street, reported at 5:08 p.m. Sunday that the boy allegedly struck him a with a wiffle ball bat at 60 New Hill St., police said.

• Paul Shiptoski, of Glen Lyon, was driving west on East Northampton Street at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday when, according to witnesses, a vehicle being driven north on South Empire Street by Wendy Placencio, of Wilkes-Barre, struck Shiptoski’s vehicle, police said.

Shiptoski and one of Placencio’s five passengers were transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for unknown injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene because of disabling damage from the collision, police said.

• Kimberly Sandford, of South Franklin Street, reported at 1:05 p.m. Sunday that someone damaged a mirror on her 1995 Pontiac while it was parked at 219 S. Franklin St.

• Police said they are investigating a mugging Sunday afternoon at Scott and Hortense streets.

Joann Eipper, of Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre, reported at 1:10 p.m. that a white male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with brown hair and wearing a grey windbreaker and blue jeans, approached her from behind while she was walking, forcibly removed her purse and fled.

• Flora Olson, 48, of Kent Lane, will be cited with disorderly conduct in connection with police responding to a neighbor dispute at 70 Kent Lane in which Olson allegedly was yelling at a neighbor from her porch at 7:33 p.m. Friday, police said.

• Wilson Anderson, 36, of Bradford Street, Wilkes-Barre, will be cited with disorderly conduct after police responded to a reported domestic dispute at 90 Bradford St. at 2:05 p.m. Sunday and encountered Anderson, whom they allege was yelling at and threatening officers despite orders to desist, police said.

• Eric Martinez, of West Hazleton, reported at 7:35 a.m. Sunday that someone stole a stereo from his vehicle while it was parked at 545 N. River St.

• Carl Johnson, 35, was to be cited with criminal mischief after a 38-year-old woman alleged at 3:06 a.m. Sunday that Johnson smashed her window and a computer monitor at 233 St. Clair St., police said.

• Jason Noreddiin, 23, and Joseph Byrne, 21, were to be cited with disorderly conduct after they allegedly engaged in a mutual fight at Madison and Butler streets at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• Bethany Purkey, 23, was to be charged with forgery after, police said, she allegedly signed and tried to cash a check that did not belong to her at Anthracite Newsstand, 1 E. Market St., at about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• Emily Shelley, 34, was to be charged with simple assault after she allegedly assaulted a 25-year-old woman with her fists and a metal basket at Sherman Hills Building 312 at about 9:44 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• Two men reported separately at 11:18 p.m. Saturday and 12:04 a.m. Sunday that someone smashed the rear windows of their vehicles and removed their stereos while their vehicles were parked at 100 S. Main St.

• Darrell Butler, 19, was cited with harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after he allegedly struck a 21-year-old woman in the face at 139 N. Main St. and ran from police at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, police said.

• Kristina Pennington, of East State Street, Nanticoke, reported at 6:40 p.m. Sunday that someone stole an iPod from her 2001 Hyundai while it was parked at Bethel Lane and East Northampton Street.

HANOVER TWP. – Township police reported the following:

• Carol Kriton, of Oxford Street, Lee Park section of the township, reported that the rear window of her 1998 Dodge Caravan was smashed with a brick while parked on Dexter Street in Lee Park. Also, the right rear tire had been flattened, police said.

• Dale Stackhouse, of Unityville, reported that after he had been timbering about 1.5 miles into the woods west of state Route 309 at the end of September, he found when he went to get his equipment on Oct. 19 that his Timberjack Log Skidder was damaged, police said.

Stackhouse claimed a hydraulic oil filter and air cleaner were damaged, hydraulic hoses were cut and a locked diesel fuel cap was broken and missing. Also missing were socket sets and adjustable wrenches, police said.

• Neil Klinges, of Hanover Township, reported at 12:35 p.m. Friday that access device fraud occurred to his checking account. The incident is under investigation, police said.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

A male reported at 4:45 p.m. Friday that someone entered his vehicle while it was parked on South River Street and removed property valued at $253.

Joshua Yackimowicz, 30, of North Pennsylvania Avenue, was cited for criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing inside Barnes & Noble, 7 S. Main St., after being told to leave the premises several times on Saturday.

Hector Perez-Martinez, 20, of Scranton, was arrested on a warrant for open lewdness at city police headquarters around 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police said Christopher Meese, 20, of Welkert Road, Millmont, was arrested and issued a non-traffic citation for public drunkenness in the area of Hanover Street and Old River Road just after 9 p.m. Friday.

Police said an unknown male entered a business on Public Square and removed $70 worth of merchandise on Thursday, police said.

A female reported at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday a burglary at her South River Street home.

Police said a female reported that someone entered her vehicle while it was parked on North Main Street and removed property valued at $200 on Oct. 19.

An unknown person removed Jennifer Featherstone’s green 1996 Ford Explorer – bearing Pennsylvania registration plate HGW 9886 – while it was parked at 102 N. Empire St. just before 3 p.m. Saturday.

Someone smashed a window on Melissa Davis’ 2004 Nissan while it was parked at 35 Simpson St. around 3:45 p.m. Friday.

An Xbox 360, one video game and a keg of beer was stolen from 88 W. Ross St. on Saturday.

An unknown person smashed a window on Luke Mikush’s 1989 Ford while it was parked at 441 Hazle Ave. on Saturday afternoon.

Cassie Price, 29, of Pittston, was arrested and charged with retail theft on allegations she attempted to leave Burlington Coat Factory, 47 Spring St., without paying for several clothing items around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Kenneth Williams, 54, of Davis Place, was arrested and issued a non-traffic citation for public drunkenness on East Market Street at 2:32 p.m. Saturday.
