Info sought in stalking case Police Blotter

BENTON TWP. – State police at Bloomsburg are seeking information from the public in the investigation of a harassment/stalking incident.

Police said someone placed an envelope with a sexually explicit message addressed to an elderly female resident of Raski Road into her mailbox sometime between midnight and 4 p.m. Saturday.

The envelope and note were seized and will be processed for forensic evidence, police said.

Anyone with information should call state police at 387-4261.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

Desiree Otway, 19, of Plymouth, was arrested on a warrant from Scranton in the area of Coal Street and Wilkes Lane around 8:40 a.m. Saturday.

Someone broke into Randy Hurst’s residence on Wayne Street and then attempted to steal a stained-glass window, which sustained damage Friday morning.

Someone damaged vending machines owned by Coca-Cola Soda Co., Pittston Township, at Schiel’s Family Market on George Avenue on Saturday morning.

Food was stolen from Schiel’s on George Avenue, around 9:35 a.m. Saturday.

PPL Electric Utilities reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday that Blanco Soraida, 41, of Wilkes-Barre, reconnected the electric meter at 392 N. Main St. without authorization and illegally obtained electricity. She will be charged with theft of services and criminal mischief, police said.

• Corinne Nowak, 19, of Hazleton, and Nicole Leshnow, 20, of West South Street, Wilkes-Barre, were cited with underage drinking early Sunday morning, police said.

• Carson Constable, 54, of South Welles Street, Wilkes-Barre, was cited with public drunkenness after an incident on Riverside Drive at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, police said.

• David Krechko, of Blackman Street, reported at 11:20 a.m. Sunday that someone splattered eggs on his residence.

• Michael Bly, of Essex Lane, reported at 10:42 a.m. Sunday that his dog was poisoned.

• It was reported at 10:54 a.m. Sunday that someone stole Christmas lights from Public Square.

• Dayna Hawco, 19, of Haddon Avenue, Collingswood, N.J., and a 17-year-old girl from Hughestown were arrested and cited with disorderly conduct after police allegedly observed them fighting at North Main and North streets at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, police said.

• Michael Kawalig, of Carey Avenue, reported at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday that someone stole a DVD player from his residence.

• Eileen Attar, of Gordon Avenue, reported at 6:31 p.m. Saturday that someone stole her purse from her 2000 Chrysler while it was parked at 136 Gordon Ave., police said.

• David Reich, 49, of Custer Street, Wilkes-Barre, was cited with public drunkenness after an incident at Carey Avenue and Beekman Street at 7:28 p.m. Friday, police said.

• Michael Caruthers, 25, of North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, will be cited with harassment after Deann Roman, of North Pennsylvania Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, reported at 3:41 p.m. Friday that Caruthers pushed her into a wall, police said.

• Kevin Mercado, 29, of South Welles Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested on evidence of drunken driving after a minor crash in the 800 block of South Main Street at 7:24 p.m. Friday, police said.

• Dennis Gallagher, of Indian Creek Drive, Wilkes-Barre, reported at 5:07 p.m. Sunday that someone stole copper pipe from 441 S. Sherman St., Wilkes-Barre.
