Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• A 15-year-old girl told police at 1:24 p.m. Sunday that a man tried to lure her into his vehicle on Rose Lane by offering her money.

The girl refused and went home, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male with a shaved head, a brown and grey beard and a medium build and wearing a blue-hooded jacket. He was driving a smaller-size burgundy or red Chevrolet pick-up. Anyone with information should call police at 826-8111.

• Molly Gosart, of Dougher Lane, Wilkes-Barre, told police at 3:20 p.m. Sunday that someone stole her purse in the area of Dougher Lane and Amber Lane.

• David Dziak, 32, of Harveys Lake, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Memorial Bridge and cited with public drunkenness after police determined he was under the influence of alcohol and/or other intoxicants to a degree that he was a danger to himself or others, police said.

• Kendra Shurmanek, 38, of Chapel Street, Wilkes-Barre, told police at 10:02 a.m. Sunday that someone shattered a window on her vehicle while it was parked near 34 Chapel Street.

• Tammy Nutaitis told police at 3:30 a.m. Sunday that someone damaged her vehicle to gain entry to it and stole property from it while it was parked on Carey Avenue.

• Robert Paul Amos was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after police found him in the driver seat of his vehicle with the engine running on Maffet Street at 1:16 a.m. Sunday, police said.

• Gregory Thompson and Tricia Cooper were arrested and cited by police after police observed them fighting on South Main Street at 11:48 p.m. Saturday, police said.

• Joseph Ansback told police at 10:41 p.m. Saturday that someone smashed his car window and stole property from inside while the vehicle was parked on Stanton Street.

• Amber Kishbaugh was injured after her vehicle rear-ended a vehicle that stopped quickly in front of her at the intersection of Kidder Street and the Wyoming Valley Mall and then was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Jennifer Grencavage, police said.

The driver of the vehicle rear-ended by Kishbaugh fled the scene, police said.

Kishbaugh was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township for treatment.

• William Albo, 57, of North Sherman Court, Wilkes-Barre, told police at 9:15 a.m. Saturday that someone stole Pennsylvania license plate YSH-8541 from a 1993 Dodge while the vehicle was parked near 5 N. Sherman Court.

• Nicole Swainbank, 28, of Carey Street, Plains Township, told police at 8:49 a.m. Saturday that someone known to her stole income tax money from her wallet at 760 Kidder St.

• Police said Catherine Meehan, 52, of McLean Street, Wilkes-Barre, will be charged with scattering rubbish because she allegedly drove to Spruce Street and Gilligan Street at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday and discarded several items from her vehicle, including old suitcases and garbage bags.

Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash in the area of 43 N. Washington St. that occurred Friday afternoon.

A 16-year-old city girl, driver of a 2000 Dodge Neon, told police she was traveling south in the left lane when she observed a line of traffic and attempted to stop but struck the rear of a 1996 Ford F-150 driven by Michael Grebonski, 47, of Plains Township, police said.

The Ford was stopped in traffic, according to police. The teen said she applied brakes but that the Dodge would not stop, police said.

Police were unable to determine if the brakes failed on the Dodge. No injuries were reported.

• John Dougherty, 66, of Kidder Street, Wilkes-Barre, told police at 11:50 a.m. Thursday that someone punched him in the head at 39 E. Jackson St.

HAZLE TWP. – Mariana Gorski, of McAdoo, Schuylkill County, told state police in Hazleton that someone damaged the rear driver side door and quarter panel of her vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Main Street in the Harwood section of the township sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information should call police at 459-3890.

HUNTINGTON TWP. – Police said Ryan Brock, 27, of Shickshinny, was driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on Sunshine Road at about 11:50 a.m. Saturday when he failed to negotiate a left curve several hundred feet east of Back Road, and his Jeep went off the north berm, struck a dirt embankment and rolled over onto its roof.

Police said Brock, who was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured, was allegedly driving at an unsafe speed and traffic citations are pending.

PLAINS TWP. – Amy Carolyn Fermier, 43, of Dallas, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a traffic stop at 1:50 a.m. Sunday on state Route 315, state police in Wyoming said.

Police said Fermier was observed driving erratically and exhibited signs of intoxication after she was pulled over.
