Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

Beth Piercy, 33, of South Welles Street, reported Wednesday that someone stole her keys that were left on a counter at CVS Pharmacy, 351 S. Main St.

Three teenage boys were cited with violating city ordinance park rules after they were observed skateboarding on the new Millennium Circle River Front park, North River Street, on Wednesday.

Someone stole 19-year-old Courtney Winder’s purse from Abe’s Hotdogs, Barney Street, on Wednesday afternoon.

Ronald Shobey, 50, of Scranton, was arrested and cited with public intoxication after he allegedly was found highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance in the area of East Jackson Street and Meyers Court at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday.

Someone used a 20-year-old man’s savings account number to make unauthorized purchases at 578 S. Franklin St. on Thursday night.

A 33-year-old city man reported two men – both described as wearing dark clothing with bandanas covering their faces – approached him, displayed a knife and demanded money in the area of East Northampton Street and North Pennsylvania Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.

The suspects got away with money and the victim’s cell phone.

Kevin Nowakowski, of Fort Street, will be charged with harassment for allegedly making numerous harassing calls to a city woman on Thursday.

Charles Fleming, 39, of Kingston, was cited with disorderly conduct after he was observed loitering in the area of Park & Lock Central, 52 S. Main St., on Thursday.

WILKES-BARRE – State police at Wyoming said Charles Yankovich, 23, of Wilkes-Barre was arrested on evidence of driving under the influence after he was stopped for traffic violations on Route 309 around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

LAKE TWP. – State police at Wyoming said Jason C. Butler, 39, of Harveys Lake, driver of a Ford F-150, struck a Subaru Outback driven by Mollieann Calkins, 71, of Sweet Valley, at the intersection of state Route 118 with state Route 29 around 11:15 a.m. Monday, police said.

Calkins, who suffered a moderate injury, was transported by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, police said. Butler was not injured.
