WILKES-BARRE – A city man was arrested in connection with an early-morning assault inside of a men’s bathroom at Hardware Bar.
Thomas Matthew Drozda, 23, of 203 Nicholson St., was arraigned Friday morning on counts of aggravated assault, a felony, and reckless endangering and simple assault, both misdemeanors, court records show.
He was jailed at Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 straight bail.
Police alleged Drozda punched a man in his right eye for no apparent reason while inside the bar at 12 S. Main St. around 1:20 a.m., according to arrest records.
The victim, who reported the incident to police later that morning, was taken by his father to Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre hospital to be treated for an injury to his right eye that was bleeding, black and blue and swollen, police said.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for May 4 in Central Court.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
Someone damaged vinyl siding at 574 S. Franklin St. around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.
Jose Melendez, 50, reported around 4:45 p.m. Thursday that a window was cracked by a pellet gun at 600 S. Franklin St.
• Posten Taxi reported a man failed to pay a fare after a ride from Wilkes-Barre to Dupont and back to Wilkes-Barre where he got out on Park Avenue early Friday morning.
• Kaleb A. Smith, 19, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited for underage drinking after an incident at 195 N. Wilkes-Barre Blvd., Thursday night.
• Jason Cheponis, of Avoca, reported on Thursday someone used his debit card to purchase items at a South Main Street business.
• Julie Hughes, of Cross Lane, reported Beverly Hoover, of Kingston, repeatedly contacted her by telephone and computer.
• Christopher Waxmonsky, of Scott Street, permitted his dog to run loose at The Bog near East Main Street on Thursday.
• Deborah Dumas, of Parrish Street, reported on Thursday a video game system and video games were stolen during a burglary at her residence.
• David Gazinski, of Scott Street, reported on Thursday that a stereo and subwoofer, money, prescription medication and fishing equipment were stolen from his vehicle when it was parked in the area of 1408 Scott St..
• Police said they captured a man who was wanted in California at Hazle Avenue and Dana Street Thursday night.
David Anthony Solomon, 30, of Hercules, Calif., was charged with fugitive from justice. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 bail.
Police said they were investigating a fight at about 10:40 p.m. and stopped Solomon who was leaving the area. A records check revealed Solomon is wanted in California for violating parole, police said.
An extradition hearing will be scheduled in county court.
• Tammy Puciata, 36, of Darling Street, was cited with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct for yelling obscenities in the presence of children on Darling Street at 6:40 p.m. Monday.
WILKES-BARRE – Police said the following people were cited with public drunkenness:
• Kevin Bahlmann, 45, of Wyoming Street, was found intoxicated when he nearly walked into a moving vehicle on Hazle Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
• Tammi English, of Dallas, was found staggering in the area of South Franklin and Academy streets at 7:13 a.m. Friday, police said.
• Jonathan Jacome, 18, of Fort Worth, Texas, was found intoxicated at the Mines, 105 N. Main St., at 12:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
• Charles Chaffman, 36, of Wilkes-Barre, was found intoxicated in the area of 167 S. Empire St. at 10:21 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
• Ruben Harrison, 39, of Wilkes-Barre, was found intoxicated in the area of 263 S. Welles St. at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
• Michael Graham, 46, of Wilkes-Barre, was found intoxicated in the area of 54 Lawrence St. at 11:04 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
• Brian DuBois, 45, of Kingston, was found intoxicated in the area of 163 S. Washington St. at 1:53 a.m. Thursday, police said.
• Juan Ramirez, 57, of Wilkes-Barre, was found intoxicated at McDonald’s, East Northampton Street and Wilkes-Barre Boulevard, at 3:11 a.m. Thursday, police said.
WILKES-BARRE TWP. – A Mountain Top man was arrested on evidence of drunken driving after a traffic stop on Interstate 81 on Thursday, state police at Wyoming said.
Police said Joseph Dennis, 30, was observed committing se3veral traffic violations at about 12:32 a.m.
