HAZLETON – A McAdoo man is being charged by Hazleton police with allegedly firing a gun at a man inside a restaurant.
Juan V. Roman-Polanco, 23, faces charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats. The charges were filed with District Judge Joseph Zola in Hazleton and mailed to Roman-Polanco.
According to the criminal complaint:
Yendaliz Gonzalez told police she exited a rest room inside Prestigo Restaurant, North Wyoming Street, on April 5 and witnessed a group of men assaulting a relative of hers.
Yendaliz Gonzalez claimed one of the men in the attack fired two shots from a gun that was hidden in a sock, the criminal complaint says.
She further claimed, the criminal complaint says, that the man aimed the gun telling her, “I’m going to kill you.”
Roman-Polanco was identified from a photo lineup as the gunman, police said in the criminal complaint.
HAZLETON – Police charged a woman with endangering children after their residence was found in deplorable conditions.
Miriam L. McPherson, 39, of Jason Road, Hazleton, was charged with a single count of endangering the welfare of children. The charge was filed with District Judge Joseph Zola in Hazleton and mailed to McPherson.
According to the criminal complaint:
A utility employee checking on a water meter at McPherson’s residence on March 20 contacted police when he heard loud music inside and no one answering the door.
Police searched the residence and found dirty dishes and clothing throughout the home, an unusable toilet, and a sticky kitchen floor, the criminal complaint says.
Police checked on the welfare of three children that reside in the home and found them safe in school.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
Police responded at 6:56 p.m. Thursday to a reported fight on Moyallen Street. Officers observed Charles Alexander, 32, and Lamont Jose Garcia, 29, both of Wilkes-Barre, arguing in the street and causing a disturbance.
Garcia, who was wanted by the county sheriff’s office for failing to appear for charges of possessing a controlled substance, was arrested and lodged at the jail on the bench warrant.
A man reported at 5 p.m. Thursday that someone entered his vehicle while it was parked on North Meade Street and removed property valued at $1,530, police said.
Police said a woman reported at 4:07 p.m. Thursday that someone removed her white 1999 Dodge Durango – bearing Pennsylvania registration plate GMA 4464 – while it was parked on Dana Street. The value of the vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
• Laron Monroe reported on Friday that three men assaulted him while he was walking on Sambourne Street at 2 a.m., police said.
BUTLER TWP. -- Police said they are investigating an arson fire that destroyed a vehicle on Upper Lehigh Road on Tuesday night. A man told police his truck was disabled and when he returned, he discovered someone set fire to his vehicle.
