Police Blotter

PACKER TWP. – State police at Hazleton reported two Mohrsville residents were seriously injured after a motorcycle crash near Weatherly.

According to police, Peter and Martina Lysczek were traveling on Quakake Road on their 2007 Harley Davidson Road King when a deer attempted to cross the roadway Sunday morning. Peter Lysczek was unable to avoid the deer and crashed. Police said both were ejected from the motorcycle and taken by helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

FOSTER TWP. – State police at Hazleton said David Soltis, 50, of Freeland, was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment after he allegedly assaulted Karen McAdams, 37, also of Freeland, late Friday night.

Police said Soltis was arraigned and taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.

HAZLETON – City police reported the following:

• A 9-year-old Hazleton boy was struck by a vehicle driven by Kenia Pozo, 28, of East Ninth Street, Hazleton, at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday near Ninth Street and Perry Court, police said. The boy was transported to Hazleton General Hospital for treatment.

• Police cited four female juveniles with disorderly conduct and one of them with an additional charge of harassment at Hazleton Elementary-Middle School, 700 N. Wyoming St., at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Parents were notified that their children would receive citations, police said.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

A city man suspected of driving under the influence was arrested Friday night after officers responded to a report of a male who fell off a motorized scooter on the 400 block of South Main Street, police said.

DUI charges are pending against Alan J. Wasielewski, 41, according to police.

A 23-year-old man was taken into custody after police say they found suspected marijuana on him at the South Street Bridge on Friday morning. Nathan Gilman, of South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, will be charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said.

• Police said three male juveniles were charged with criminal mischief late Friday night after police were on patrol and saw the trio in an area prone to graffiti vandalism on South Washington Street.

Police said when the trio spotted police, they attempted to flee, but were then detained and found in the possession of multiple spray paint cans. Fresh paint was found on a nearby building.

• Sacha Cavanaugh was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia Saturday night. Police said when being arrested near High Street, Cavanaugh fought with and spit on officers. Police said Cavanaugh was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

• Paris Gill was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver narcotics late Saturday night after police say they approached Gill and saw him drop packets of suspected heroin on the ground. Police said once they took Gill into custody and read him his rights, he admitted to selling heroin. Police said Gill was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
