Police Blotter

SHICKSHINNY – State police at Shickshinny said a traffic stop led to the discovery of marijuana plants in a vehicle and a residence on Rockview Avenue on Saturday.

Police said they were investigating a suspicious vehicle that was stopped on Rockview Avenue when they uncovered five marijuana plants and two marijuana cigarettes from inside the vehicle.

Police said the investigation led them to search a home on Rockview Avenue, where eight marijuana plants were found.

Police said Kevin Parsons, 18, of Shickshinny, two 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old male are facing drug related charges.

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:

• Police said Kevin Geiger and James Martens were intoxicated in the area of Caf� Luna, South Main Street, at 12:06 a.m. Saturday.

• A man failed to pay for food at Denny’s Restaurant, Kidder Street, at 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

• Police said they captured Carmen Lynn Tinson, 48, of Bowman Street, who was wanted by Philadelphia police on a drug offense. Tinson was captured on Bowman Street at about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

• Ed Pendock, 46, of South Sherman Street, reported Wednesday someone flattened two tires on his vehicle while it was parked in the area of 30 S. Sherman St.

• A woman was arrested and another woman was detained after a fight in the area of South Grant and East South streets at about 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Police said Sarah Findora, 25, of North Washington Street, was found with a knife in her purse. She was charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of having prohibited offensive weapons and public drunkenness. She was arraigned by District Judge James Tupper in Kingston Township and jailed at the county prison for lack of $3,000 bail.

Police said Joanne Masulis, 32, of Market Street, Pittston, was intoxicated and found carrying 66 various prescription tablets in her pocket. She was held until sober, police said.

Findora is tentatively scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 24 in Central Court.

• Richard Wienceck and Jennifer Wienceck reported Wednesday someone smashed the windshields on their vehicles vehicle while they were parked in the area of 234 S. Welles St.

• Police said Juan Ramirez, 57, of South Grant Street, was found intoxicated in the area of 60 S. Grant St. at 6:36 p.m. Tuesday.

• Police said Robert Lazousky, 45, of South Franklin Street, was found intoxicated in the area of the Market Street Bridge at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

• Police said Casamara Rinehimer, 43, of Barney Street, was cited with a summary offense of disorderly conduct after a disturbance in the area of 268 Barney St. at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday.

KINGSTON – A man was charged Wednesday for allegedly stealing prescription tablets from a woman, police said.

Brian Romanczuk, 31, of Suscon Road, Pittston Township, was charged with two counts of robbery, and one count each of simple assault, theft, receiving stolen property, harassment and possession of a controlled substance.

He was jailed at the county prison for lack of $10,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Linda Nichol told police on June 3 that Romanczuk gave her a ride to a doctor’s appointment and to Cook’s Pharmacy, Wyoming Avenue, to pick up a prescription. After arriving at her home, Nichol claimed, Romanczuk wanted several hydrocodone tablets.

She alleged Romanczuk pushed her and removed the medication from her pocket when she refused, the criminal complaint says.

Police allege 57 hydrocodone tablets were missing from Nichol’s pill bottle. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on June 24 in Central Court.

KINGSTON TWP. – Township police reported the following incidents:

Lee Ann McDermott, of Carverton Road, Wyoming, reported Thursday that a child’s ATV was stolen from a residence. The ATV is described as a black and gray 2007 model.

William Amann reported he was defrauded out of $4,000 via a telephone scam.

Amann was asked to send the money via Western Union a California company in order to get approval for a loan, police said.

Lee Ann Carey reported Thursday that her purse was stolen from her daughter’s stroller while she was shopping at the stores in the Back Mountain Shopping Center.

Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Shavertown reported the store was entered and numerous items amounting to approximately $120 in value were stolen, police said. Police said they located suspects who will be cited with retail theft.

PLYMOUTH – A Plymouth woman is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Monday for allegedly endangering two children and hitting another woman with her vehicle.

Shallon Gallmon was charged by police last Friday on four counts each of disorderly conduct and harassment, three counts of simple assault, two counts each of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, accidents involving injury and endangering the welfare of children, a single count of immediate notice of accident to police, and 12 traffic offenses.

Gallmon, 30, of Orchard Street, remained jailed at the county prison on Thursday for lack of $25,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Plymouth police:

Stephanie Velders told police Gallmon blamed her and other neighbors because Luzerne County Children and Youth caseworkers were at Gallmon’s home on June 11.

Velders claimed she was standing with Jennifer Ridell near Gallmon’s home and saw Gallmon place two children in a vehicle.

A witness who observed the incident told police Gallmon threw the children into the car and failed to secure them in safety seats.

Gallmon reversed the vehicle at a high rate of speed, striking Velders and nearly hitting Ridell, who is pregnant.

Police said Gallmon sped away and failed to notify police about an accident.

Velders suffered arm and shoulder injuries, police said.

LUZERNE CO. – The Luzerne County Sobriety Checkpoint Program will sponsor sobriety checkpoints this weekend in Pittston and Exeter.

The program, administered through the county’s Probation Services and funding provided by PennDOT, serves as a reminder that the impaired driver puts innocent lives in jeopardy. All operations are weather dependent.

Officers will be out in force to enhance public safety and advise drivers on the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
