FOSTER TWP. – A Freeland man was charged by police with punching his girlfriend, who was nine months pregnant, in the stomach.
Leigh C. Gill, 28, of North Buck Mountain, was arraigned Thursday morning on counts of harassment, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was jailed at Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
Police alleged that Gill chocked, slapped and punched his pregnant girlfriend during an argument at 6096 N. Buck Mountain Road on June 20. Gill fled prior to police arrival.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for July 2 in Central Court.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
Someone stole two vehicles – a 1999 Saturn and a 1994 Buick – from Bill Cawley Used Cars, 132 Hanover St., on Wednesday. A Pennsylvania license plate, J37458J, that was stolen may be on one of the vehicles.
Someone stole an 8-year-old boy’s bicycle from 970 Scott St. on Wednesday.
• Christine Keihl, of Hanover Township, reported at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday that a woman known to her removed a TV from the rear of 535 N. Franklin St.
James O’Rourke reported at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday that someone entered his residence at 237 Blackman St. and took several items, including several DVDs and two PlayStation game systems, police said. No forced entry was observed.
Jorge Aguilar reported at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday that someone removed the license plate from his vehicle while it was parked on Brookside Street.
Police said someone scratched Sandra Troyan’s 2003 Ford on Almond Lane on Wednesday.
Gary Sloat, 39, of Loomis Street, will be cited for harassment for allegedly punching Todd Sloat in the face at 225 McLean St. at about 4:36 p.m. Wednesday.
FREELAND – A borough man was charged with threatening his girlfriend with a knife during a late-night disturbance on Wednesday.
John W. Karlick, 30, of 1117 Centre St., was arraigned Thursday morning on counts of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, court records show. He was jailed on $5,000 bail.
Police alleged that Karlick, who was intoxicated, stood outside the front door of his girlfriend’s apartment and made threats around 10:36 p.m. at Freeland Village.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for July 2 in Central Court.
HAZLETON – A city man was arrested on drug trafficking charges on June 19.
Vaughn Johnson, 31, of Alter Street, was arraigned last Friday on counts of criminal conspiracy, possessing instruments of crime and possession of a controlled substance. He remains jailed on $150,000 bail.
Johnson, also known as “B,” was one of two people charged after authorities searched his home at 828 Alter St. for crack cocaine, police said.
Police found numerous baggies of suspected crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, vials, a digital scale and razor blades used for the packaging of controlled substances, in addition to two “Brass type knuckles,” a pair of gloves and a mask, the criminal complaint states.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for June 29 in Central Court.
CONYNGHAM TWP. – State police at Shickshinny said a large window at a home on Pond Hill Road and a window on a vehicle parked outside the home were smashed on Wednesday.
