MONROE TWP. – Two people were moderately injured and six cattle were killed Saturday morning in a head-on collision on Route 29, near Eaton Township, in Wyoming County.
Police say an elderly driver crashed into the trucking rig carrying 31 cattle.
Donald M. Crawford, 80, of Noxen, was traveling south when his 1989 Chevrolet pick-up truck crossed over into the southbound lane and struck the trailer truck, according to state police at Tunkhannock.
The rig overturned before sliding across both lanes and smashing into a utility pole, police said.
Crawford and the other driver, Nicole L. Fox, 23, of Ephrata, were both taken by ambulance to Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock.
Wyoming County Animal Rescue Team and Cargill Taylor Beef from Wyalusing assisted with moving the cattle into another trailer, police said.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
A woman faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child after Wilkes-Barre police say her 3-year-old niece was found chewing on a small bag of marijuana while at a day care on Hazle Avenue on Friday.
Police said Crystal Lee Glover, 25, whose address was not known, was responsible for the child. Glover admitted to police the bag containing marijuana was hers, according to police.
Joshua Burns, 18, was stopped for a traffic violation near 113 Madison St. and was found to be in possession of three pipes allegedly used to smoke marijuana on Friday, police said. He was taken into custody, processed and released, police said.
Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery at the A-Plus Mini Mart on Carey Avenue around 2:15 a.m. Friday, police said.
Tony Sutton, of Wilkes-Barre, reported he was using an ATM machine when he observed two males watching him from outside the store, according to Wilkes-Barre police. After waiting several minutes, police said Sutton decided to leave the store.
Sutton began walking home when he was tackled from behind by two males, police said. He fought with both males and yelled for help.
The suspects – both described as black males, approximately 6 feet tall, heavyset and in their late 30s to early 40s – fled toward Susquehanna Street, police said. One of the males was wearing a gray hooded shirt, and the other had a goatee with partial gray flecks and was wearing a red shirt.

• Police said a man exposed himself to a woman in the area of 545 N. River St. on Sept. 7.
• Anna Mae Lavan, of North Washington Street, reported jewelry and a computer were stolen during a burglary at her residence on Sept. 7, police said.
