Police Blotter

WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:

Graffiti was sprayed on 64-year-old Peter Bielecki’s vehicles on East Linden Street just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Maryann D. Webb, of Succasunna, N.J., reported that her vehicle was entered by a suspect who pushed his vehicle back about 3 feet and caused slight damage to the bumper in the area of Rear 17 W. Ross St. on Friday.

The suspect forcibly removed a Kenwood stereo with remote, a Garmin GPS unit, sub woofers and an amplifier from her vehicle. The overall value of loss is approximately $1,050.

Ernest Jendrzejewski, 28, of Wilkes-Barre, reported at 10:45 a.m. Friday that his vehicle was damaged in the area of 203 Coal St.

• Robert Soloman, 75, of 61 Catlin St., reported at 10:36 a.m. Sunday that someone stole a Poulan lawnmower from his back yard.

• Mary McKenna, of 447 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Wilkes-Barre, reported on Sept. 20 that while she was staying at the Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia, someone entered her room while she was out and removed her credit cards and identification.

On Thursday, McKenna was notified of a charge of approximately $8,000 to a credit card. The suspect also used her identification to open a charge account with Target and charged $1,000, and a withdrawal was made from her PNC Bank account in the amount of $850.

McKenna closed all of her credit card accounts. The suspect then contacted the bank and had new cards sent to two different addresses in the Philadelphia area, police said.

PLAINS TWP. – The state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Polish American Veterans Home Association, of 2 S. Oak St., for an Aug. 25 violation of fortified, adulterated and/or contaminated liquor.

The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for serious offenses.

UNION TWP. – State police at Shickshinny reported the following incidents:

An unknown suspect stole a red 2006 Arctic Cat 400 VP 4-by-4 ATV from a 42-year-old Benton man’s property on Bistrichan Road between 11 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Someone entered a 70-year-old Shickshinny man’s Cope Road home and stole a large screen television, pistols and ammunition, prescription medication and a digital camera between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday.

Anyone with information about the residential burglary is asked to contact Trooper Robert Bell, of the Shickshinny station, at 542-4117.

HAZLETON – City police reported the following:

• A 17-year-old juvenile was to be charged with resisting arrest, providing false identification, persistent disorderly conduct, possession of drugs and reckless endangerment after he fled on foot from a traffic stop in which he was a passenger at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday.

The teen, who was wanted on a previously issued warrant, was later located in an apartment at 750 W. Maple St.

• James E. Paisley, 49, of 35 N. Cedar St., Hazleton, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. on Sept. 21 and cited with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of public drunkenness after he allegedly spit on two police cruisers parked in the area of Wyoming and Green streets while officers were responding to another incident.

HUNLOCK TWP. – Someone broke into a storage barn at the Garden Drive-In on Route 11 in Hunlock Township to take a joyride on an all-terrain vehicle. The incident occurred at 5 a.m. Sept. 18 as one of the unknown suspects drove an ATV through the barn door before fleeing in a dark colored sedan, according to state police. The suspects were described as two males in their late teens to early 20s.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact Trooper John Blaski, of the Shickshinny station, at 542-4117.

HUNTINGTON TWP. – George Edward Ernst of Stillwater reported someone stole a Savage Shotgun after entering Ernst’s home sometime between Sept. 13 and 14 on Pinecrest Lane near Lake Pinecrest. This case is still under investigation by the state police at Shickshinny.

• Sheri Lee Marsh, 19 of Stillwater, will be cited with hit and run and other traffic violations, after crashing her 2003 Chevrolet S-10 through Ethel Newman of Shickshinny’s yard on Waterton Hill Road about 10:20 p.m. Sept. 17. After Marsh drove through the tree lawn and hit Newman’s brick mailbox she fled the scene. Marsh went to the state police’s Shickshinny barracks Sept. 18 to report the incident.
