WILKES-BARRE -- A Noxen woman has died after the car she was driving Saturday mounted a curb and struck a building on South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Police said Diane Lynne Hoyt, 44, was operating a 1994 Ford Thunderbird at around 4:40 p.m. when the incident occurred. When rescue personnel arrived at the scene, Hoyt was unresponsive, not breathing and had no pulse. Officers performed CPR and Hoyt was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, for further treatment, where she later died, police said. Hoyt’s car struck the Biernacki Eye Associates and Eye Care Specialists building at 82 S. Washington St., police said.
Police said Hoyt suffered from a pre-existing medical condition that might have contributed to the accident and her death.
WILKES-BARRE - Peter McGinness, 52, of Wilkes-Barre, was arrested at 1:20 Sunday morning on North Sherman Street on charges of public drunkenness, police said.
Police said McGinness was observed in a visibly intoxicated state causing a disturbance and determined he was a danger to himself and others and was an annoyance to those in the vicinity.
WILKES-BARRE - Patrick Ryan, 24, of Blakeslee, was arrested on charges of public drunkenness Sunday morning around 3:32, police said.
Officers said they observed Ryan as visibly intoxicated on South Main Street.
WILKES-BARRE - Nikolas Colferal, 20, of North Street, reported to police that his wallet was stolen around 1:30 a.m. at the Hardware Bar, South Main Street. Police said there are no suspects and are investigating.
WILKES-BARRE - Two people reported that items were removed from their vehicles while parked in the rear of 20 Public Square, behind the Ramada Hotel.
Travis Yeager, 22, of Pottsville, told police someone broke into his 1999 Chevrolet and removed several items, including a Garmin GPS, a car stereo, sunglasses and other items. Yeager reported the theft at 11:18 a.m. Sunday.
Aneurys Rosario, 22, of New York, told police someone removed a stereo and speaker and other items from his 1995 Honda. Rosario reported the theft at 12:17 p.m. Sunday.
NESCOPECK - Frank Knrowski, Broad Street, Nescopeck, reported to state police that his pedal bicycle with motor attached was stolen from his backyard where it was chained to a tree. Knrowski said the bike was taken sometime between Saturday and Sunday and was valued at $800.
The bike is a light blue Huffy with a woman’s frame. It has a 49cc Tacusa motor attached to the rear tire. The bike is equipped with a front headlamp and a small tool box on the rear of the bike.

PLAINS TWP. - Plains Township police arrested Noelle Davis, 30, of Lansdale, on Saturday morning around 2:30. Police said Davis was stopped for erratic driving on Route 315 and she exhibited signs of intoxication. Police had her transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for a blood alcohol test. Police said Davis refused to submit to the blood test.
PLAINS TWP. - At 12.07 a.m. Sunday, Plains Township police responded to the Woodlands Inn & Resort on a report of a disorderly female causing a disturbance in the parking lot.
When a police officer arrived, he encountered Rosalie Clark, 23, of Scranton, the police report stated. Clark exhibited signs of intoxication and continued her disruptive behavior, including screaming obscenities, police said.
Clark will be cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, police said.
PLAINS TWP. - Plains Township police took Robert Evans, 26, of the township, into custody Sunday on an outstanding warrant issued by the Pennsylvania State Parole for escape.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
Officers on patrol observed Todd Woronko, 37, of Wilkes-Barre, operating a motor vehicle in a careless manner and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Stanton Street at 3:22 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Woronko, who police said showed signs of intoxication, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he submitted to a chemical test of his blood.
A female reported that a man known to her only as “Tone” verbally harassed and threatened her on Academy Street on Thursday night.
Police said a female reported at 12:37 p.m. Saturday that an unknown suspect used her access device card without authorization and/or permission for the purchase of airline tickets in the amount of $704.18.
An unknown person stole two car radiators from a 39-year-old man’s property at 95 N. Washington St. on Saturday, police said.
PLAINS TWP. – Township police were called to Weis Market for a report of a woman attempting to cash stolen checks on Saturday.
Police arrested Rose A. Hilburn, 40, of Mayock Street, Wilkes-Barre, who was also allegedly driving a stolen Hyundai Elantra belonging to a 74-year-old Wilkes-Barre woman. Police said she stole the vehicle and a purse, and was cashing the victim’s checks in local markets.
Hilburn was also in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said, and her driver’s license was suspended.
She was arraigned and charged with receiving stolen property, identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension, police said. She was lodged at Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for Dec. 22.
HANOVER TWP. – Township police reported the following incidents:
Thomas Joseph Mink, 23, of Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested Saturday on drug charges, police said.
Police said they recovered approximately 50 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and plastic bags after Mink was stopped by police for several traffic violations. Wilkes-Barre City assisted in the arrest.
Mink was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a felony, possession of the drug and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 (10 percent bail).
Township police are investigating a retail theft that occurred Saturday at the Crossroads Pharmacy, Oxford Street. The subject was described as a white male with dark hair and wearing a gray jacket, police said.
James Cooke, of Mark Drive, reported on Friday that his .45-caliber Ruger semiautomatic handgun was taken from his home on Dec. 9.
