WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
Police said Jason Shinko, 24, of Stanton Street, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop on South Empire and Stanton streets at 3:11 a.m. Saturday.
An officer observed Shinko to be driving at a high rate of speed, police said. Shinko, who allegedly showed signs of intoxication, was arrested for DUI, police said.
Michael Perez, 38, of Edwardsville, allegedly removed several items of clothing at Burlington Coat Factory, 47 Spring St., just after 11 a.m. Friday, police said.
Perez, who was stopped outside of the store, will be charged with retail theft, police said.
Police said someone stole a tan 20-inch BMW GT bicycle with orange handle bars and pedals from the back porch of 384 Parrish St. on Saturday morning. The value of the stolen bicycle was estimated at $300, police said.
Someone stole a vacuum cleaner and a board game worth approximately $449 from Boscov’s Department Store at 15 S. Main St. around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.
The suspect was described as a male, possibly in his 20s and wearing eye glasses, police said.
Frank Mcghee, 46, was cited with harassment for allegedly sending several vulgar text messages to his ex-girlfriend at 32 Monroe St. on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Police said someone threw rocks through a rear window of St. Patrick’s Church, 316 Parrish St., on Saturday morning. The interior stained-glass window and exterior storm window both had holes in them, police said.
Someone removed a Harveys Lake woman’s wallet from 41 Carey Ave. at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, police said.
• Mike Delaney, of 868 Scott St., reported at 12:18 p.m. Sunday that someone damaged Christmas decorations at his home.
• Steve McNeil, of Metcalfe Street in Wilkes-Barre, reported on Sunday afternoon that his check card had been used for unauthorized purposes at a Spring Street location. An investigation continues.
