MOCANAQUA – State police say they are investigating a standoff that occurred near Columbia County Friday afternoon.
A special emergency response team responded to St. Mary’s Park to try to negotiate with a man who had a gun, according to local news broadcast reports.
State police at Wyoming are investigating. It was not immediately known if anyone was hurt.
No further information has been released.
HANOVER TWP. – Township police on Friday reported the following incidents:
• Pauline Mancini, of East Newport Street, reported someone threw a pumpkin that damaged a window on her home.
• Dale Myers, of Mark Drive, reported a stereo, speakers and compact discs were stolen from his vehicle when it was parked near his residence.
• Teresa Yuknarich, of West Germania Street, reported a package delivered by UPS was stolen from her porch on Nov. 18.
• Shane Nilon, of Mark Drive, reported a DVD player was stolen from his vehicle when it was parked near his residence. A window was smashed on his vehicle.
• George Sutton, of South Main Street, Lower Askam, reported his black 1999 Ford Escort was stolen from his residence on Tuesday or Wednesday.
• A vehicle on Vanessa Drive and a vehicle on Keystone Road were entered. No items were reported stolen.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following incidents:
A city woman reported at 10:55 a.m. Thursday that Anthony Lawson, of John Street, Kingston, called several times and threatened her with physical harm at 146 Midland Court between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday. Charges have been filed against Lawson.
A Plymouth man was charged Friday by city police for possession of a stolen PlayStation system. Stephone Hollman, 27, formerly of New York state, was charged with receiving stolen property, a first-degree misdemeanor.
EAST UNION TWP. – A Hazleton woman and two young children were hospitalized Friday afternoon for minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash just north of Sheppton, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Patricia Flanigan, 42, driver of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, was traveling around 12:40 p.m. north on Route 924 when a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser heading in the opposite direction entered into the northbound lane and struck the Pontiac.
The Chrysler, operated by a 17-year-old Zion Grove boy, was traveling south on the roadway and made impact with the Pontiac’s front driver side.
After impact, the Chrysler spun counterclockwise and traveled southeast off of the roadway into a ditch. The Pontiac traveled northeast off the roadway into a ditch. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed.
Flanigan and two 8-year-old girls were transported to Hazleton General Hospital.
Police said the teen driver suffered from a minor hand injury, but refused medical treatment. He will be cited for careless driving.
BUTLER TWP – Township police reported the following incidents:
• Katherine McBride, 73, of Refuge Circle, was injured when she lost control of her vehicle that crashed into her residence on Monday.
McBride was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
• Joann Giranda, of West Butler Drive, lost control of her vehicle that struck a utility pole on West Butler Drive on Tuesday.
Giranda was not injured, police said.
PPL replaced the utility pole.
