Two more classes will be offered as part of the Summer SAT Verbal & Math Prep classes at Wyoming Area. The response to these classes this summer has been excellent.
Enrollment is still being taken for the SAT Verbal & Math classes which will begin on Monday August 3 and run to Friday, August 7 and the classes that will begin on Monday August 10 and run through Friday August 14. Verbal classes have run all summer beginning late June and running until August 14. Math classes will be offered in August. Wyoming Area has offered SAT PREP classes again this summer in an effort to help students increase their SAT scores. Wyoming Area continues to offer SAT Verbal and Math classes year round. The summer courses offer the students the opportunity to have more time to devote to the course content. Students and parents are encouraged to enroll their children in these courses. Students who have already completed the courses are encouraged to reenroll since the more practice they have the better their chances of increasing their scores.
Cost is $35.00 per each Verbal and each Math course enrolled in. Non-residents fee is $50.00 per each course enrolled in. Each class will run for 2 hours daily from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. A student may enroll in only a Math review class or a Verbal review class but we suggest that a student enroll in one of each.
Classes will be offered during the following dates:
August 3 to August 7 (V & M); August 10 to August 14 (V & M)
Tooth and Nail will be used throughout the SAT Verbal classes and the focus during the classes will be vocabulary development and reading comprehension. This will be an interactive class using discussion of the book as the focus of the sessions as well as vocabulary development. Reading comprehension will also be stressed. No computer programs will be used during these classes.
Books will be available on a loan basis and there will also be books available for purchase.
A large organized Math SAT review folder will be provided each student in SAT Math classes.
Students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 are encouraged to take advantage of these courses. One can never over prepare for the SAT test. Students who already have completed these courses last summer for this school year are also encouraged to reenroll in these courses. Practice makes for improved scores.
At least 10 students have to enroll in each session for the course to run.
Mrs. Teddi Rabel, guidance secretary, will accept enrollment for these courses. Call her at 570-655-2836 at extension 2339 daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. She will answer any questions about the classes and she will also take reservations. Students can also purchase the book Tooth and Nail ahead of time to prepare for the class. This can be arranged with Mrs. Rabel when calling to enroll in the class.
Those students who have already signed up with Mrs. Rabel will be notified by phone as to the particulars of their classes (time, dates, etc).
