BERWICK — A woman took the ride of her life to her 100th birthday party — in a motorcycle sidecar.
Evelyn Warburton sported a black leather jacket, a helmet and a pair of sunglasses for the 10-minute ride from her home in Lightstreet to her granddaughter’s house on Saturday.
Her chauffeur on the green 2000 Harley-Davidson Ultra was friend George Crawford, who had offered Warburton motorcycle rides to church for the past several years.
Warburton finally accepted Crawford’s offer after celebrating her 100th birthday on Thursday.
Crawford said Warburton was nervous at first, but relaxed after he assured her she wouldn’t fly out of the sidecar. The duo hit a top speed of 40 mph.
Warburton’s daughter, Nancy Hartzel, praised her mother’s adventurous spirit.
“She’s always willing to try new things,” Hartzel said.
