WILKES-BARRE — A Georgia man accused of shooting another man multiple times inside the Sherman Hills apartment complex two years ago pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted homicide.

Diondre Bess, 29, known as “Porky,” saw two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of reckless endangerment and a related firearms charge dropped in exchange for his plea, which prosecutors said calls for a state prison sentence of five to 10 years.

Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough accepted Bess’ plea and set sentencing for March 1.

Bess was one of two men charged in the March 2015 shooting that seriously injured Brandon Eubanks. The other shooter, Keith Brian “Keefy Blood” Hayes, 25, received five to 10 years behind bars at a hearing in February 2016 after he pleaded guilty to attempted homicide.

According to police, Hayes emerged from an apartment inside the high-rise apartment complex and confronted Eubanks, then 24. During the tussle, Hayes and Bess each brandished handguns and fired at Eubanks multiple times, striking him in the neck and other parts of his body. Eubanks survived the injuries.

Both men fled the area following the shooting, but were captured and extradited to Luzerne County by the U.S. Marshals Service. Hayes was caught in New York a month after the shooting while Bess was apprehended and taken into custody without incident seven months later at a relative’s home in his native Athens, Georgia.

Bess’ bail was revoked and he was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility following the hearing.

He did not comment as he was led out of the courthouse.
