WILKES-BARRE – A 23-year-old Drums woman was sentenced to six to 12 months in prison, followed by two years probation, on charges stemming from two incidents in November.
Tiffany Croman, of West Butler Drive, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, and access-device fraud in April. She was sentenced Tuesday by Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Thomas Burke.
According to arrest records, on November 8, 2007, Croman entered the Unimart gas station on Church Street in Hazleton, passed a note demanding money to a clerk and then threatened to shoot her.
A search of Croman later turned up a pair of scissors.
One day later, Albert Croman reported to police that his ATM card and $90 were taken from his residence, and that he checked his account early in the morning and noticed $250 was withdrawn without his permission, police said.
Police said Albert Croman reported that someone was attempting to cash checks on his account, and later discovered his checkbook was stolen as well.
Police said Albert Croman told them he believed his granddaughter, Tiffany Croman, was responsible for the thefts because of her drug use.
Later that afternoon, Rod’s Deli, West Butler Drive, reported that Croman walked into the store acting suspiciously, and then demanded money while her hand was in the front pocket of her sweater, police said. The clerk fled the store before Croman could take any money.
Police said Croman used the money stolen from her grandfather to purchase crack cocaine.
In March, Croman was sentenced to 16 to 36 months in state prison, followed by two years probation, on charges including theft by unlawful taking, stemming from a June 2007 incident.
