LEADERSHIP AWARD PRESENTED — Leadership Wilkes-Barre Alumni Association

IREM TEMPLE UNIT HONORS MEMBERS — The Executive Committee of the Uniformed
Units recently honored its immediate past president Lee R. Hockenberry,
Oriental Guide, at a dinner dance held at Irem Temple Country Club. Also
honored was the immediate Past Potentate of Irem Temple, Ill. Sir. Paul G.

    BARBER SHOP QUARTET PLANS CONCERT — The “Roaring Twenties” is the theme
for the annual concert of the Wilkes-Barre Chapter, Society for the
Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America
(SPEBSQSA) scheduled this Saturday, April 13 at Bishop Hoban High School,
Wilkes-Barre. Concert begins at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:15 p.m. Tickets
are $8 and available from members of the Chorus or by writing Ticket Chair
Conahan, 80 Regent St., Wilkes-Barre. The Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony
Chorus will be featured in various production numbers along with local
quartets “Lookin’ Good,” “Station W.C.B.S.,” “Nothing In Common,” octets and
several surprise segments. Headliners will be a well-known comedy foursome
from the Mid-Atlantic District of SPEBSQSA, “Variety Pak.” Pictured seated,

TEAM CAPTAIN RALLY HELD TO KICKOFF WALKAMERICA — The annual Wilkes-Barre
WalkAmerica Team Captain Rally was held recently. WalkAmerica, the nation’s
oldest and largest walking event, is anticipated to attract nearly 1,000
walkers representing more than 40 area businesses and organizations on Sunday,
April 28. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk begins 9 a.m. at Kirby
Park. The 9 or 18 kilometer walk is expected to raise $54,000 to support the
local March of Dimes mission. The Christman Family of West Pittston was
selected as the Ambassador Family for the Wilkes-Barre Walksite. Standing from
