LA PLUME- Homecoming and Family Day Weekend at Keystone College festivities will not only be geared toward students and alumni, but also residents of Factoryville. In addition to activities happening on campus, a sidewalk dedication will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11:45 a.m. on the College Green, along College Ave. After a summer of ‘No Parking’ signs, and a lot of work, the Streetscape project is completed. Representative Jim Wansacz will be on hand for the dedication and members of the community are invited to attend. The annual Homecoming parade is set to begin at Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center on College Ave., beginning at 11 a.m., make its way down College Avenue to the Campus Green, and end at the Streetscaping dedication ceremony.
Keystone alumni and the community are invited to gather for the numerous events taking place over the weekend. “The entire Keystone College community is thrilled to welcome alumni, families and friends for a fall weekend full of activities,” said Keystone President Dr. Edward G. Boehm, Jr. The class of 1957 will celebrate its 50th anniversary with celebrations throughout the weekend. In addition, Saturday events will include: State of the College address by President Boehm, campus tours, an art exhibit, a national alumni board meeting, an alumni awards ceremony and the Athletics Hall of Fame inductions. Of the inductions is Dr. Michael Mould: Former Keystone Athletic Director, Former Keystone Soccer Coach, Former Keystone Baseball Coach.
For a complete list of award recipients visit www.keystone.edu. The Hall of Fame Reception will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center. Also on Saturday, Family Day activities will take place, in addition to women’s and men’s soccer games against Wells College at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, a Baseball Alumni Reunion game will be held at 10 a.m. at Christy Mathewson Field. Past and present Keystone Giants baseball players are invited to compete in an alumni game and Home Run Derby. A picnic lunch will follow the game on the field.
The Keystone Players will present “The Greater Tuna” at The Theatre in Brooks, Friday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door, or can be reserved by calling 945-8454. General admission is $6; cost for area students and senior citizens is $3 and for Keystone students, $1.
