WILKES-BARRE — The Beach Boys head a long list of great artists announced Thursday by the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts as part of its line-up for the 2015-2016 season — which is said to be the busiest season in the performing arts center’s 29-year history.

The Kirby Center remains “At The Heart Of The Arts and Entertainment” with 44 new events, including great concerts, hilarious comedians, a four-show Broadway Series, a busy Family Series, four mini film festivals and additional performances in the ongoing “Live from the Chandelier Lobby” concert series.

The 2015-2016 Concerts & Comedy Series, presented by Wells Fargo, includes The Beach Boys, An Acoustic Evening with Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt, Jackson Browne, Los Lobos featuring Ballet Folklorico Mexicano, Saturday Night Live alums, Norm MacDonald and Kevin Nealon and much more.

Families will love the new season, as it features public performances from The Wild Kratts, Alvin & The Chipmunks, Clifford The Big Red Dog, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

This year’s Broadway Series consists of Saturday Night Fever, The Million Dollar Quartet, an evening of Motown with Dancing In The Streets and Menopause The Musical’s The Survivor Tour, which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure and features a cast full of breast cancer survivors.

The new season also features a diverse Classical Arts Series that includes Puccini’s iconic opera, Madama Butterfly, a rare performance by the world-famous Vienna Boys Choir, a holiday-infused evening of Celtic music from Cherish The Ladies and Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theater’s production of A Moon for the Misbegotten.

Want more? The 2015-2016 Season also features the return of the W. Curtis Montz Film Series in the form of four mini film festivals. As always, this film series offers critically-acclaimed features on the area’s largest screen for the area’s lowest ticket price. Matinees cost just $3, while evening screenings cost only $5 and students with a valid I.D. always pay just $3.

Individual tickets for the 2015-2016 Season go on sale June 8 at 10 a.m., but Kirby members can pre-purchase their seats beginning May 26 at 10 a.m. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased in person at the box office or by calling 570-826-1100.
