Luzerne County officials have received requested documents from the manager of the Wyoming Valley Airport in Wyoming and will be reviewing them to make sure the county isn’t owed any money, county Solicitor Vito DeLuca said Thursday.
DeLuca said last month that he was investigating Valley Aviation Inc.’s failure to supply requested reports, particularly ones about fuel usage and sales.
Valley Aviation President James Scrobola said at the time he was under the impression his company had already supplied all reports and documents required by its contract in recent years, including logs on fuel. Scrobola also said he had nothing to hide and would provide any additional information requested by the county.
DeLuca said he and his assistant will be examining the packet of documents supplied by Valley Aviation.
“We just want to confirm that the county received all revenue owed and that the county didn’t pay for things it didn’t have to,” DeLuca said.
The county is supposed to receive 9 cents of each gallon of fuel pumped at the airport in Wyoming. Valley Aviation paid the county about $2,400 for fuel last year, or the equivalent of roughly 29,000 gallons, officials said. Valley Aviation’s contract as fixed-base operator took effect Jan. 1, 2006, and expires Dec. 31.
The company paid the county $6,000 per year in rent, with the amount increasing to $12,000 this year. The county must maintain the airport, while Valley Aviation pays for insurance and operating expenses.
